Georgia Tech #25 in final ESPN power rankings...

Please explain why Auburn is ranked ahead of us. The SEC got obliterated by the ACC this year and Auburn beat one top 25 team in LSU. And lost 5 times otherwise.

Because we have cyclical behavior in sports reporting - the teams that get the most coverage (in this case, any SEC team) get more "eyes on" than others, then those teams get more coverage, etc etc. My guess is most of the pollsters didn't see our 9-4 record with 4 straight wins to finish the season, but with Auburn, saw an SEC team in a NY6 bowl and ignored their horrid finish overall.

This. It's funny because they actually had the sense to correct a couple of the most obvious faults with the official rankings, but they can't get their mouths off the SEC's dick completely and an Auburn team with no business receiving votes at all stays in, a slot ahead of an ACC team who finished the year strong, beat their SEC rival and smashed another SEC team in the bowl.

An obvious point that bears repeating:

Ugag starts the season ranked. Finished unranked.

Tech starts the season unranked. Finishes ranked.

Which train would you want to board?

And yet somehow ugga is ranked 13 in preseason 2017 and we are unranked (yes, they return the ungodly trio of Eason and the Hershal wannabees).
