Long time lurker, as you can tell from my post count, I don’t post a great deal. I am posting a couple of clips here about a feature length documentary I made detailing Georgia Tech football from the time that Bobby Dodd retired to the 1990 championship season. We have worked on this independently for several years and we are about to go live with a finishing campaign (In order to release the film we have some graphics and music that have to be outsourced). We interviewed a lot of really great people and it’s an incredible story- excited to share it with you! I’ll keep updating, and I’m happy to answer any questions :)

    First video is a trailer

Second is a clip, and I have a couple of additional clips I will be uploading soon.

This is such a remarkable story and being able to hear from the players, coaches, and local media has been great. I think this film will remind us that we CAN succeed at the highest level and in the right situation we can win a championship. I'll have a second clip I'll post next weekend!

How do you know my name?!? If you tell me that you know my friend is a rotund postal worker then I’ll be worried haha.

There are a few moving pieces, but if we successfully finish funding the movie, then the first part of next year.

That last line from Dr. Rice in the second clip is quite sobering -even now.

Yes, I don't think people realize how close we came to having to get rid of the football program. I'm not sure many people besides Dr. Rice could have figured out a way to dig us out of the hole we were in. Facilities were really really bad and Pepper had been promised a lot of things that never happened. So, when Dr. Rice and Coach Curry got here it was a huge endeavor to not only field a competitive team, but field a team at all.

Love it when people do these historical accounts. Looks like you're doing a great job.

Looking back, one of the proudest moments of my life was working with Dr. Rice and Coach Curry to help sell the student body on approving their proposed Athletic Fee.
As President of the IFC, I took these guys around to all the fraternities and sororities to help them promote their renewed vision of GT football, including the future Edge Center, which was going to cost $$$$.
There was A LOT of skepticism and push back around the proposed fee (I think it was like $85/quarter), but they took the time to visit all 30+ houses one by one to explain why it was so important, and it finally passed.
Without it, there would not have been a "resurrection" of the football program.
GDIs can mock fraternities all they want, but without the support of our Greek system (which was 25% of the student body) it may have never passed, and we wouldn't have had the glorious 1990 season we now cherish and hope to soon repeat with CGC.

Kudos to kramer2727 for helping to tell this story for the benefit of current and future generations of GT fans. I can't wait to see the final product.

This is a great story to hear- I can imagine how difficult this was. It really is a testament to the importance of having the right people in place at Tech and how those people have to be innovators in finding new revenue streams, among other things. Coach Curry, Dr. Rice and then Coach Ross were all guys who were just the right people for that time in resurrecting a program that was really in poor shape. Dr. Rice said people asked him, "Why would you ever take that job??" He mentioned that early on in the 80's the administrators of ACC schools ranked the facilities for other programs and Tech was at the bottom across basically all sports.

Haha, well I have been working on this for a few YEARS so hopefully you can make it!!

Friends, a second clip for you :) This is Dr. Rice discussing when he first called Bobby Ross's house about his interest in the Georgia Tech job in 1987. If you haven't yet, you can like our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/wreckedtoramblin I'll have some updates there soon.
