I have never personally met Dr. Clough, so some of you will be a better witness than I on the criteria Dr. Clough will use as to who will be hired. However, since I see the name of one lady who will throw her hat in the ring, and since it is politically correct to go for a minority these days before anyone else, I have weak feelings that Bill Curry has a chance at this job. Someone who knows Dr. Clough please respond.
This post is by NO means flaming any minority, I'm just saying it the way that I see in our world today.

The day Tech hires a woman as AD will be the day Ga. Tech will give one of it's senior class athletes a one game suspension for a game that only holds meaning for that kid and his family. Four days later Tech will lift the suspension in time for a conference game.

Don't worry! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pat.gif

I know both Dr. Clough and Ms. Mary McElroy. I am sure there could be other female candidates. I am sure that, considering that they have hired a search firm and appointed a committee that it will be a thorough and fair search to hire the BEST PERSON. Who that will be no one knows. I have never known Dr. Clough to hire anyone but the best available. I have never known GT to do otherwise.

Ms. McElroy is the new AD at Georgia State. She is very good at what she does. I have no idea whether she is the best candidate or not.

I do hope that whoever is selected no one will claim the process is biased, especially with regards to minorities. For those who want BC as AD, there is a player who played for Coach Curry on the committee. So don't go brandying about claims of bias. Also, if we do have a minority AD (Ms. McElroy is one of the few current ones in Div I-A/AA), please don't make the ignorant statement that "its just because they are a minority."

I imagine there are many candidates who have not chosen to be interviewed and whom the media has not sniffed out yet as well.

Really. Do you mind educating those of us without personal ties to her what "very good" things Ga. Tech could expect from her.
Do you think she could lead Tech down the same path of excellence that GSU has enjoyed?

Rebuttal: You either do not understand the strategies behind the use of headhunters, or you are trying to BS people here.
Sure, in some cases a search firm is hired to find the best candidate. However, in many, many cases a headhunter is employed to protect the hiring employer from being accused of discrimination.
Society has now decreed that an employer can't necessarily hire who it wants to. It has to be a so called "fair" process.

I repeat that Tech may be employing a headhunter on this search because they have absolutely no idea of who is out there.
Or, they may be doing what is now required when a high profile job is open. One final thing, do you wonder why anyone would make it public that they are using a search firm?

Tech is doing nothing wrong. They are just protecting themselves.

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else but wasn't she the compliance person at GT during at least part of the time we were not complying with NCAA regulations about the classes kids were taking and when?

I have no idea whether that is at all in her purview and it is entirely possible that that has nothing at all to do with her position. But if she held that position here (meaning that she's the one I'm thinking of) and that position had anything to do with making sure we were in compliance when we CLEARLY weren't then I think she would not be appropriate.

Female, male, black, white, purple, pink... I don't care what color or gender a person is as long as they are the best qualified to be successful in the position of AD at GT.

Horsecrap! I\'ll Be Politically Incorrect And Not..

give a rat's hindend. We need a football man first as AD. I know some of you are now feinting because of my offence but I live in a real world, not some "Can't we all just get along" fantasy world. Heisman, Alexander, Dodd, Rice...., need I say more?

TRUE. Got to have someone focused on FB. Why? It's the largest revenue gainer of all college athletics. Pretty much pays for everything else besides BB.
