GG\'s talk of 18 to 21....

...kids in this class is a little scary. I like the kids that have committed so far and some of the names we are looking at, but if we end up with 18 or 20 kids and say that we only signed kids we feel will help us win the ACC and beat UGA, I will be a little troubled. If you are looking to bring in 23-25 kids and end up at 18-20 then that means you just didn't look very hard because there are going to be plenty of kids that sign with mid-major programs that end up being good players. You can't make it a habit of saving up your ships. With the way kids today are injured, transfer, or lose their taste for the game, you cannot afford to save ships.

I agree. We should always strive to sign our full amount where possible.

Axe, I'm with you on your concern. No way you hold back scholarships except for maybe a couple when you have walk ons or late qualifiers factored into the equation.

I think 18 to 21 is an optimistic number at this time. I will be very pleasently suprised if we sign 23 to 25.

I think the reason we are hearing nothing on this front is because there is nothing to tell. Maybe I will be shocked with our close. I hope so.

Go Jackets!

Would you feel better about the numbers if the criteria was truly "can this player help us beat UGA or FSU"?

In light of how the scholarship numbers need to be evened out over the next few years, I've got no problems with the staff being selective on giving them out.

The proof will be in the pudding as they say.

Jerry you are accurate. This is all pretty ordinary stuff - you sign your allotment unless holding for the proven walk-ons or transfers. Feb. 5 should come as no great surprise as a bust, it is consistent with all other phases of the program - going backwards. All the FOC should look at UNC who on the field had a worse year than we did but blew us away in recruiting. Surely that is a bar that we can shoot for, let alone the top teams in the conference. Wrong choice a year ago - continues to show.
