I know it's been said hundreds of times before, but let's just chalk up this season to a learning experience and put Bilbo in the game. I could care less if we lost out if we at least put in our future players.

This is Suggs' last year as a QB...he's not going pro, he's not going to play anywhere...what do we owe this guy that he is still our starting QB?

I'm not ripping on him, he plays his best...but in this situation, we have a better player waiting in the wings. Let's use him before he decides to transfer...

Why do you want Bilbo to play so bad ?

JUST because he seems to have amazing atheletic ability ?

Because he has an incredibly strong arm ?

Just because he generates excitement and enthusiasm ?

Because he's a freshman and will continue to get better ?

Because he is most likely the leader of the future ?

Because we score on almost every drive in which he plays ?

Because he could open up the option package ?

Sorry - I just don't see it

Hello Stingers
I have yet to post here. I use to post on the Hive all the time and I have slowed down a little and have become more of a lurker. Every now and then I read something I feel I might have a different perspective on and decide to reply. Here goes.

I thought a little about putting Bilbo in and I think it has it's good points and bad points. Surely the upside looks real good, he might be a great playmaker but that has yet to be seen. I certianly hope so though. However, have you considered the downside of giving him full command of the offense? Let me quote another coach Bobby Bowden. He said, "Ronald Curry is the best high school quarterback I have ever seen." What happened to Ronald Curry? He was put in way too early and his confidence became more and more shattered until he really never lived up to his potential. He never became the QB people thought he would be. I am not saying this could happen to Bilbo, but I do think there are situations where people are thrown into the mix a little premature.

May take is this, I am happy with our coaches decision to put Bilbo in a little bit at a time. We will see more of him later, but I would absolutely hate to see him thrown into our offense 100% or even 50% of the time only to have him possible fail and loose confidence. He is slowly being weened into our offense which is a good thing I think.

Again, I am not saying that could happen, but I certianly hear announcers preach confidence all the time. Many of these announcers have either played or coached at the College level so I think they know what they are talking about.

My suggestion is to be patient. I hate loosing, Coaches hate loosing, fans hate loosing, and especially players hate loosing. There may be no immediate fix to our loosing streak, but I do believe we will win again and I believe Coach Gailey will be a pleasant suprise to GT football. Throwing Bilbo into the mix and changing things all around will not fix our problem. That I can promise. Heck even Joe Hamilton made some bonehead mistakes that almost cost him his job. I am sure there were some people calling for his head early in his playing career.

Sorry if I rambled too much. Have a good weekend. Keep a positive attitude and if you see Coaches or Players on campus this weekend, please offer them words of encouragement. It will only help the situation.

Have I considered the "downside" of starting Bilbo ?

er, uh, I hate to tell you - but we're IN the downside as we speak - it doesn't get anymore "downside" than the present
