Go Volunteers!!!

 down 24-14 at halftime. Damn those Mutts.

Hope Tennessee can pull this one out and give me a daily double.

Tech wins, Georgia loses, Falcons in a bye week. An almost perfect weekend. What more can a TECH fan ask for?

WAY TO GO VOLS!

Let the mutt excuses BEGIN!

We should now be the highest ranked team in the state!

Good times. I was invited to Taco Mac to watch the game and it was a good decision. Seeing Georgia fans file out of a restaurant at the same time as they show them leaving Sanford Stadium was heartwarming.

After enduring the Tech fiasco where Chan was too pussyfoot to put a nail in that game it was a pleasure to watch the Vols deflate the dags balloon over in Athens.

Nutless winning equals losing.

:laugher: Does it, now? Best inform the players of their loss. I nominate you to go let them know.

4-2=5-1?

Anyway, at least we can say Tenn. and Georgia's ST's looked worse than even ours today. UT also gave up kickoff return for a TD and a punt return for a TD. Meanwhile, after having two blocked against Ole Miss, Georgia had a punt blocked giving UT a TD and missed an extra point.

This one reminds me of a game in the 60's between Sou Cal & ND. I think it was Sou Cal the came back from a 35 point deficit at half time to win the game ine the 2nd half. Details are a bit blurred in my memory, it could have been the opposite on teams.

Nope, you are correct, sir! Led by Anthony Davis' 2nd half KO return for TD. SC scored something like 42 unanswered 2nd half points. 42-28 sounds about right.

You really mean all that? Did you not even notice the difference in talent level on those two special teams out there last night versus ours? I hate to say it but I'll take either of those ST's over ours and I'll spot you a touchdown.

That was an amazing comeback, USC was down 24-0. They actually scored right before the half to make it 24-6, then reeled off 49 more points in the second half to win 55-24. Anthony Davis was amazing in that game, as was John McKay.

Our STs better show up against the mutts. Those boys can return kicks. Their offense sucks, so we can't be giving away any ST points to them.

I guess I'm just amazed how Georgia had two blocked punts against Ole Miss and one against Tennessee. At the risk of sounding like a fool, I can't remember the last time that we've had a punt blocked, against Miami, UGA, VPI, anyone, while Georgia had three blocked in the last two games, with two against the juggernaut Ole Miss. Georgia also let one return almost go to the house, as the Tenn guy was just stopped from behind They also missed an extra point, which I know Bell has never done in two and half years.

And while we're all rightfully cursing our special teams for letting that kickoff return for a TD, Tenn let a kickoff return for a touchdown and a punt return for a touchdown. Yeah, those teams have worlds of talent, which makes these miscues all the more inexcusable.

Look, I'm not saying our special teams is great. They are the worst unit on our team no doubt, but a lot of this "cognitive bias" stuff is being applied to them. Remember the bad, and only the bad. And the kickoff return was definitely bad. I think the young special teams players really came out flat for the game. The fake field goal was Chan's fault if anybodys. He saw a hole in their field goal blocking unit that would have let the receiver free for a TD, but Ralph apparently fixed that hole. Then, we had the bad snap, which was also definitely bad, and a barely missed field goal from Bell.

However, Bell is still 4 for 8 on the year, including those two missed field goals, and I'm pretty sure that the other two were pretty long ones. Both punt units continue to do very well. Our kickoff coverage is still a concern, but Maryland only had one other return to the 33 for the rest of the game. The rest were touchbacks or kickoffs taken to around the 20, although that dumbass penalty by Sedric gave them the ball once on the 35.

Again, I'm not saying were doing great on ST, but our new ST coach >> Dave Wilson. With the turnover in the secondary, he probably has much less talent to work with on kickoff return and I think has done better overall.

I recall at least one FG of ours blocked last year... ;)
