Going to practice today

Just a little FYI

Watch out for a new play when they scrimmage. It has been devastating thus far.

Please post a practice report!

Yes, I want you to try to find beebad there, he should be taking notes. Then I want you to observe what he's writing, maybe by using a camera phone over his shoulder, I don't know, just find it out. Then I want you to come back here and post what he wrote down, and only what he wrote down, just change a couple words.

Okay here we go:

Today I watched mostly the DB drills, 7-7, and finally the live scrimmage.
1.)Tarrant is the real deal, and he is our best DB behind Burnett....by FAR. He will be a starter barring injury. I see Butler or Reid taking the other spot. Peterson looks like he could be a wolf
2.) Corey Earls looked surprisingly good. He may still be a year away, but he looked fluid in his backpedal and was very good in coverage.
3.) Josh was off a bit passing today. He did hit Bebe for a long TD in 7 on 7, but he was overrthrowing a bit. He had a couple of nice runs. It is clear he is our QB
4.)Tevin has come a long way passing. He looks good on the short to mid-range passing, but he tries to muscle the deep ball too much. He was elusive running during the scrimmage, but he was also running against the third team defense.
5.)Jaybo had an okay day. He got lit up a few times by the DL, but he is a tough SOB and popped right back up. He missed on a few longer passes, but did alright.
6.)Big Ben Anderson was the player of the day. He was all over Josh and Jaybo, and layed the wood numerous times. I feel much better about D Tackle after today. I think he and Barnes will team up before it's done.
7.) Watch out for Albert Rocker. This kid looks like DE is his home, and he was bringing the thunder. I see him sliding in for Bob Hall on 3rd downs this season.
8.)Very impressed with Quenton Sims. He is a fluid athlete with nice hands, and if he can block, he might just fight Melton for the other spot. He was the best WR out there today. I know everyone is ready for Stephen Hill, but if he beats these two guys out, he has to be a phenom.
9.)Marcus Wright took a toss around the corner, came to a dead stop long enough for a DB to fly at his feet,, then hurdled over his prone body and took it to the house. This kid is dynamite.
10.) Richard Watson caught a screen pass and was met by Sed Griffin...it sounded like a shotgun went off. Sed and Jefferson are by far our best linebackers.
11.)D Reese looked good in 7-7 drills. He plays his best in coverage
12.) There are some plays that I wont discuss, but lets just say overpursuit will be punished heavily this year,
13.) Willie White is a very physical guy. He may still be a year away from being a player, but he has a lot of talent and don't take crap from DB's.

ETC:
Cord Howard looks like he is in much better shape.
Anthony Allen looks like a beast.
Embry looks a bit heavier.

I'll be going again tomorrow and I'll give you another recap

Finally! The long awaited "touchdown" play that the armchair OC who used to sit behind me called for at all times.

A few things I forgot:
1.)There were about 150 to 200 HS coaches there today..minimum.
2.)I really like Coach Kelly. He would stop the drill to work one on one with a player. He was constantly teaching, and I think our corners will be even better this year.
3.)Tarrant looked awesome returning kicks.
4.)We spent a lot of time with special teams. I believe Coach PJ is serious when he says we MUST be better this season.

Thanks for the update. It sounds like we are doing great. The only thing that I am slightly worried about is the comment you made about Ben Anderson being all over Josh and Jaybo because that could mean that our O-line is lagging a bit ... then again, it could mean that Ben Anderson is a beast.

Hate to make excuses for our OL, but...........
we are missing 2 starters, most importantly our starting center who just happens to line up opposite the DT. Something tells me if we had our starting OL out there, things would be very different.

I hear both of you on Anderson, but the other DL were going against the same lines, and he still stood out above everyone...Morgan and Big TJ included.

But then that is the benefit of having the injuries happening in the spring [rather than fall]. Now our lest experienced guys can get to a good level and we can replace starters without things go to **** (as some might phrase it now).
