In this Podcast Rod Mackenzie basically says that Coach Collins is Coaching the boys up, but the talent just isn't there. He says that Coach needs time to recruit to get us back to 6 games and a bowl. What I find interesting is while there is the disconnect from the way the team practices to how they perform on gameday... no one is talking about the locker room being lost... They basically say we have a soft team, but it is due to folks being CPJ recruits and players.

The issue I have is that CPJ never really had a soft team on the FLATS, so why would these players be soft? I think Rod and staff on the Podcast are missing that there is a scenario where the Coach has lost the locker room and that is why the team is so soft.

The argument that he needs time to get us to six wins and a bowl is very generous. Six wins was the “floor” of our program for almost twenty years until CPJ’s first losing season. That Collins needs five years to get us to .500 certainly does not instill much confidence that the program will eventually soar to new heights.

Six wins seemed ambitious before the season started but our strength of schedule was very overrated. We may or may not jump up and beat Miami or BC so we are probably looking at 3 or 4 wins.

Unacceptable.

And the reason cpj got a pass was because of injuries, the years buffering it, and we notched a win over no9 fsu

Six wins this season was not an impossible hill to climb. NIU was there. We had better personnel, even with our backup QB. Clemson was there for the taking even with the backup qb.

We weren’t out talented against VT or UVa. We certainly weren’t so untalented as to give up season high offensive performances against them.

You’re going to lose some games where you are fairly evenly matched. But we looked bad on offense to start the season, but have improved. We have been bad on defense starting against Pitt.

On offense, we need to figure out why it looks like the opposition seems to know our plays. We should take a look at the WR and TE coaching. It could be talent is the problem at those positions.

On defense, the entire staff needs to be reviewed and some changes made.

The Jackets should not be the team against which any ACC Foe gains its most yards of the season and records its highest points-per-possession average of the season and its highest yards-per-play average against an ACC opponent. Coach Collins attributed some of the damage to errors in technique and awareness and acknowledged that “we’ve got to do better on the back end.” Collins expressed his belief in his group and assured that issues will be “cleaned up and corrected.”

In 30 games it has yet to happen... He can't coach his scheme! Or if he is it is not effective.... This to me is the COACHING Problem.... I also believe this is the reason we are so soft as a team is becuase of Coach Collins....SA are looking good in practice but on gameday they have no faith in their Coach.

I wonder if Rod Mackenzie is correct and once CPJ players leave the locker room has a diffrent feel, or if that is just an excuse being used to get another year before a buy out!
