Chris Fowler on the game tonight said UNC just agreed to a home/away series with the university of Texas...Good for Mack Brown and Butch Davis agreeing for a tough OOC game for each school.

The rest of the ACC needs to follow UNC's lead and schedule more great OOC games..If you want to be serious in the ACC about getting into a BCS bowl we need to strengthen our schedule and win those games...Also for the ACC to get more respect we will have to schedule and win these games, just like FSU and Miami did while being an Independent..Play anyone anywhere...I really respect Butch Davis and UNC for taking on a top team like Texas, I guess he figures they will be a force very soon and I think UNC will be.

So now they're OOC scheduling similar to ours for 2 seasons.

Interesting. I thought there were some hard feelings when Mack left UNC for Texas.

I really think it makes you look good when you schedule a strong OOC opponent. Does wonders for recruiting, too.

Can't say why but I have always wanted to get USC West on the schedule.

Ugag is not as good as Texas...of course they and these sec homers around here would probably lead you to believe that...Like P.J. dsaid "Maybe kentucky is better than Ugag" :laugher:

That is one game I would wager that we could schedule...Carroll would love to come in here and recruit this state...I would love to see U.S.C. on the schedule too, That was the one team that all our players wanted most to play also...

I wonder if Mack Brown having been the man in Chapel Hill had anything to do with it?

The ACC already plays more BCS opponents out of conference than ANY OTHER CONFERENCE. The ACC also, fwiw, has a BETTER RECORD this year vs OOC BCS teams, than ANY OTHER CONFERENCE.

Look it up, do the math. The perception that the ACC is a weak conference is merely perception, and honestly it's driven by the fact that we do play so many tough games. The Big 12 played pansies for four weeks straight, got a bunch of teams up to 4-0 before their conference schedule started, and got the "best conference" label because of that.

You are exactly wrong about what generates perception in this country. It's not sense, it's BS.

We get very few opportunities to kick some butt in the Big Twelve and the Big Teneleven in post season bowl games or otherwise. The fact that the Big East had an unusually strong couple of teams the last three or four years has hurt the ACC as much as anything.

Meanwhile the SEC plays the Big Teneleven a couple of times in bowl games. The Big Ten stinks and has for years; it's easy to win those games.

it's a lot easier for schools like unc to schedule texas...because UNC doesnt already have a rivalry series with a almost always highly ranked team like we do with Georgia.

We've got boys like Alabama coming up...Notre Dame was supposed to be a good game...
lets stop crying about the schedules and just win the games we do have

Actually, they had UT on the schedule in '04 as well, I was at the game in Kenan-Flagler Stadium.
