I know he did a lot of things to alienate some fans (mostly on the field - at least he didn't find ways to do it off the field like most of our "friends" to the east) but he gave every bit of heart and effort to the school we all love. For that, we should all move forward (like he has) and hope that he can be a positive influence because wherever he goes, he'll have "GT QB" associated with his name.

So, he and CJ will be on the same team again? It's hard to have consistent feelings for Reggie, but I can certainly wish him well.

Did anyone else notice his agent is representing Michael Vick as a defence attorney?

Calvin just can't escape him! Maybe they can run a trick play where Reggie ends up the QB and Calvin makes another NCSU-like catch.

Joking aside though, he'll probably get some special teams time I would guess. Not really sure I see him making it as a normal receiver in the NFL.

All the best to Reggie. Called on to do a tough job he is under-appreciated for his contributions to our winning seasons which could have been disastrous. He stayed at the helm. Always the trooper. He never failed the call. It's not like he lobbied for the job.

Thanks, Reggie. Give' em hell!

I love Reggie. I think he gave everything he had out on the field.

I hope that his critics will have to call him the worst 20 year starter in the NFL.

I can't see Ball as a receiver in the NFL but I'm very happy for him. I think he'd make a good punt returner or punt-kickoff coverage guy and maybe the 5th db in a nickle package.

But on the other hand with CJ drawing 6 or 7 man coverage that leaves Reggie in man coverage by the nose guard so, yeah, that might woik :-)

This was probably the worst possible team for Reggie to sign with. Their KR/PR (Eddie Drummond) is 22nd all-time in KR yards. They're stacked at WR with both CJ and Roy Williams - not to mention their leading receptions getter from last year.

The main thing at this point for Reggie is to stick. Even if it's the practice squad, it gets his name out there and may get him a look somewhere else if he does a good job, impresses coaches with his attitude, etc. If he makes it to an active roster it may very well be with a different team. But coaches and players in the NFL talk and if someone with the Lions likes him he may surface somewhere else eventually.

I honestly hope you're right. As much of a bad taste is in my mouth from Reggie, I'd hate to see this final year be Reggie's legacy. It would be great for him make a mark in the NFL to remove the current image we have of him.

He should do okay at WR - much fewer snap decisions to be made.

The AJC has hit a new low on this one. Their polls always show their extreme bias, but this one is more over the top than usual, openly mocking a kid trying to realize his dream:

You know, at some point Reggie stops being a kid. I can see it being considered classless to bash a kid in college trying to do his best. It's a lot more iffy to not hold him responsible for what he says to the media as a team captain, but I can still see it. But this is the real world now...the NFL only exists because of its media coverage, and you're going to get nasty things said about you. Just ask Rex Grossman. Reggie isn't a kid trying to realize his dream anymore; he's an NFL player trying to make the cut.

Replace "kid" with "young man" or "guy" or "dude" if you like, the point is the AJC would never print something like that mocking a UGAy player.

Except for the time last season that they invited Tech fans to publicly humiliate UGA after their homecoming loss, and printed several choice inventions. And before that when they openly ridiculed a prominent politician UGA fan who was upset with that original headline of "Dawgs Put in Their Place"(his name escapes me now). They're trash, but they're trash both ways. UGA just doesn't have an equivalent of Reggie Ball.

How does losing to Vandy equate with getting an NFL contract and tryout? Let me know when the AJC mocks a UGAy player by name for something like this. It'll never happen.

I think I agree with mm42 on this one. The AJC is garbage. First of all it is incredibly left-wing and second its sports section is incredibly biased in favor of UGAy.

Can GT start a School of Journalism so we don't have to put up with this crap?
