there are numerous reasons we came up short but if you compare this game to the Miami game the difference is Quin. He made the plays to keep us from getting the ball.

We played well enough to win. I would have loved to see this game WITHOUT the refs BAD CALLS. I was at the game and have not seen the TV replays but I am sure based on what Wes was saying I am NOT going to like the result.

I do think this is a game we can build on. This is probably the best QB we will see all year and we had him bottled up for most of the game.

The WORST part of all this is we had an ORPORTUNITY to beat the #2 ranked team and let it slip through our hands. You hate to miss out on that type of opportunity.

Thank you. That sums it all up in all of its bummerness.

I was impressed that we were so competitive. Chan & Co must find a way to turn the corner and win these games that we are so close in. The chance was there to win this game and we just didn't seem to have a knockout punch, a clutch hit, or something...

I'm proud of how we played in the big game, national television and everything but a loss is a loss and trying to take pride in it is sort of like kissing your Sister.

Tomorrow is another day!

Are you really trying to pin this on Tenuta? They scored 14 points at our house and we couldn't beat them. Pitiful.

Tenuta is a great at his job, but he does figure into the blame here.

ND was 44 % on 3rd down converts.

Our "D" did ok but to beat ND we need to be better than OK.

The TD at the end of the 1st Half really messed up some minds.

We should have contained them earlier instead of letting them march all the way down the field.

I'm not laying it all on the Defense's feet, but they did contribute to a loss here.

A lot of areas are responsible for last night's loss. The officiating played a large part in this to my thinking. Especially on the pass play that they reviewed and claimed CJ did not make the catch. BALONEYYYYY !!!

As I see it, depth was a BIG factor in this loss. We flat out need much more depth all the way around.

Special teams also need to be staying after practice and doing some more work.

This is what we've seen for a couple of years, at least, now. The D plays well enough to win, the O can't score enough.

I have to disagree about Tenuta getting the blame. He couldn't do anything about Philip Wheeler incidentally going helmet to helmet with Quinn (In Bounds) on 3rd&10

Tenuta couldn't do anything about ND getting the ball at the 45 every drive.

Tenuta couldn't do anything about CJ being robbed of would-be signature catch. THERE WAS NO INDISPUTABLE EVIDENCE THAT CJ WAS HELPED BY THE GROUND. Not that this means we would definitely have scored, but .....

The only thing I saw that Tenuta could possibly have done something about was that ball that just fell right in front of Pat Clark. Our defense needed to seize that opportunity. Hopefully this improves starting next game.

Our special teams are awful, still. ND got breaks, we didn't. We made mistakes, ND didn't.

Qualification: I was at the game and just got finished watching it on TiVo.

not that it is Tenuta's fault but more so it is Quin's fault. Reggie's limitations will mean that if a Great QB has a Great day we will lose if RB is our QB. He does not have those abilities.

Luckily VERY few qb's have GREAT days against Tenuta.

I personally believe that although RB gives us our best chance to win we will never be able to throw over the middle with him b/c of his lack of accuracy.

Without the penalties WE MAY have won that game last night. Reggie played pretty well. WR's had some drops (including CJ) and when that happens you rarely beat the #2 team in the country.

Nix is also learning on the job and will be better next time. He had some nice plays in the 1st half. I am not completely sold on the "hurry up" b/c it tires our D more by extending the game.

If we are 3-1 going into VT we will be ok. The key now is too build on a tough loss.

In my opinion the refs didn't make such a bad call in overturning Calvin's "catch" and Wheeler's (?) hit on Brady, while not outrageous, was kinda' borderline.

Thank goodness, there are only 4-5 times a year when that happens and we lose! Anymore than that and it would be really frustrating.;)

I wouldn't exactly label the CJ dropped pass as such. He took a pretty good shot from a DBack that had time to recover after being beaten on the play. The ball was in the air for a long time and CJ had to make a slight adjustment back toward the oncoming DBack just to make the catch.

Unfortunately, we've come to expect CJ to make the spectacular and perform miraculously due to the simple fact that we can't get the ball to him in open space and in stride. The only reason for the reversal on his most spectacular non-catch was because he was completely horizontal and didn't have enough room/time to bring the ball in completely before hitting the ground. Otherwise, we'd be talking about something else.

Davie was right...you gotta get the ball to CJ so the man can make plays.

we came up short but I am not sure of what we could have done differently.

Reggie played good enough to win. I felt that we should have ran QB sneak on the 3rd and 1 and that was a HUGE play b/c we never got close again.

Also we should have thrown to CJ when it was on the 11 yd line.

Those are two mistakes that I put on Nix but they are not HUGE mistakes.

Tech played well and come up short. The Miami game (similar score) we played the same and won the game.

I think Quin is a legit NFL qb and better than Shaub who really lit us up.

Maybe you can say the line could not get push in the second half so we could run the ball. If Choice could have ran better in the 2nd half we would have won as well.

We were so close to winning this game depending on how a few different plays worked out.

Don't misunderstand me. I am not talking about those games EVERYYEAR that we lose that we SHOULD win. I am talking about when a legit NFL qb plays Tenuta's D it is usually not going to be good for GT. This was the case last night.

We will not play ANY QB as good as Quin the rest of the year.

If we can actually win in Blacksburg, I think we win our division. I was on fire last night, but have since tried to view our season as a whole.
What DOES worry me is that regardless of how well we played, we didn't score much against a B defense at best. What happens in Blacksburg? Death Valley? Hell even Raleigh.
