Good recruiting update by AJC (link)....

The Key Takeaway

Let's dust off the art of logical deduction.

1. The writer says we will sign "19 or 20".
2. We have 18 commits.
3. Other sources say we will only take from a select group of 3 or 4 highly ranked recruits, a statement I take as highly likely, although I can see a 5th guy sneaking in the door if unlikely things happen.

Ergo and therefore, the writer thinks that we will sign 1 or 2 from that group.

This is cause for celebration, if it turns out that way. Jubilant celebration.

I like our chances with Burnett, and have for some time. I've been skeptical of Peters as I thought he was LSU's to lose. Now I'm not so sure. Both were on campus last weekend with almost everyone in the incoming class, and I'm sure that went sweet. We should be sitting in a good position with both. Meanwhile Edwards is out there, and while he has not tipped his hand in our favor, he also hasn't tipped it away from us either.

yes, let's celebrate this class by getting a real OC in to go with our winning DC. We should not waste this opportunity with more years of Patrick Nix calling plays and non developing our QB's. Let's add to our good fortune and put ourselves in the best position to reach new heights. Fear of change will doom us to mediocrity.

Edwards is definitely the long shot of the group and a Florida lean. I think if we land Burnett and Peters we will probably stop there as that puts us 4 over what we actually have....but you never know.

Too bad we could not sign 25...we have had to turn away excellent players that wanted to visit (Golden Tate-Notre Dame for example....Kevion Latham- Penn State wanted an offer) because there is just not enough to give this year. Next year's 25 will be a lot of fun to watch....lets just hope we can somehow repeat this "family-style" recruiting class again next year.

I noticed that 'Matt the Wink' made a point of touching on scholarship limitations three times in his little article. Scumbag.

Uh, that information is fairly pertinent to the subject he's writing about.

I don't know how you could write about Tech recruiting and not talk about the limits. I mean, when we talk about it we talk about them as well.

I understand that, the limits are there and there's no hiding that fact. I think a mention of it was suffice and necessary for the article. I just thought touching on the subject three times in the article was unnecessary.

But, knox and nc, I respect both of your opinions and neither of you seem to have a problem with it, so perhaps I was a bit hypersensitive regarding the subject.

I think Winklejohn is doing an OK job. He's definitely the best Tech beat writer I've read in the AJC, and he posts good recruiting info for those of us who don't have primo Scout or Rivals subscriptions. In reference to the scholarship limitations, I think it was just mentioned because it was relevant to the subject, plus I don't think he has any agenda... he seems to like Tech and covering Tech. Just my opinion.

This is the cycle that we go through with every beat writer. They start up after a couple of months we declare them the best beat writer we have ever had. Eventually, they write an article that might possibly be construed as negative. The gold glasses crew starts attacking them and then they start writing increasingly negative articles because they hate Tech fans (or at least the ones they are around on a regular basis).
