GT Marilyn Monroe on the cover issue. September 9, 1952. Couple of pages on GT. Tech tower, Varsity mentioned, Aunt Fanny's Cabin, Dodd getting a post practice massage from a trainer. I've wanted it for a while, but have never found it in an antique bookstore. Found it on Ebay. It was in a lot of about 15 magazines from the era. Just happened to see it in the pic of all the magazines. No mention of Tech in the ad. Only paid $47 for the entire lot of magazines.

Looking at the regions, we are called the best of the south. Ah the good ol' days. Wish I were around then. Dad was. The magazine is for his birthday in February.

As a bonus, I also got the December 16, 1952 Look magazine with the football writers all americans. Hal Miller (tackle) and George Morris (Backer up) are two from Tech. Oklahoma, Texas and GT are the teams that placed two on the AA list. Great stuff.

Just excited about my purchase - even though it will be given away to my dad for his birthday (after he prys it away from me).

We need to get back to where we belong - the top looking down.

BTW, a Sprite ad in one of the mags says that it is Extraordinary with vodka - the good ol' days indeed!

Never had Sprite with vodka, JJ, but I do remember the good old days when we were winning with regularity, going to the top bowl games (of course, there were so few back then, they were ALL top), and getting respect not only across the country, but even in the state of Georgia...imagine that. When that happens again, I'm breaking out the vodka with Sprite. Until then, I think I'd better keep drinking it straight.

My Dad Was in School From 53-56 .....

I used to love to go through his old annuals from those years. He also said George Morris was the best LB we had.

Bleh, vodka... more trouble than its worth, it does go down mighty good with sprite though, specially the stuff thats got a bit of vanilla flavor in it, doesn't match a good beer but oh man.
