Great link for east coast reaction to ACC

Thanks for the link, ALlives...Much solid information therein and I loved the apparent onset of paranoia that seems to be creeping into the mind of Frank Broyles (and very likely others) of the SEC. The ACC is on a "Raiding Mission" into the SEC. (Broyles) It is almost a "circling of the wagons" command.
Also T.K. Wetherell's (FSU) aggressive attitude pertaining to Notre Dame's possibly becoming a part of the ACC. He speaks of not only going after N.D.,but doing it quickly and sending Bobby B. if necessary, to do a selling job.
The new Acc possibilities grow in excitement. If what some are saying comes about, we may be known as "The Steamroller Conference".

Broyles talked about SC and UF as potential targets for the ACC. If GTGator's out there, what is your gut feeling on the possibility of this? I see it as highly unlikely when compared to someone like SC.

Also, if SC comes to the ACC, does that open the door for Southern Miss to finally get into the SEC? I bet I can name two schools with "no" votes over here, but I don't know what their by-laws are for admitting new members.

Jacksonjacket, I would think Southern Miss would have a good shot at entry into the SEC. I also think Central Florida will be picked up by someone when realignment takes place. They would be a prime target for the SEC, unless we get them first.

My first choice for us would be South Carolina if we could get them. My second choice would be Central Florida.

I have a feeling the BE goes after UCF and Louisville, we take SC and USM bails on the remnants of C-USA for the opening in the SEC. (funny how the BE won't have a problem taking a couple from them. Granted they don't have an auto-BCS bid)

One year at 11, then the dust gets kicked up again

Jasonjacket, I can see why the Big East would take Miami because of their football ratings.

Why do you think they would want to take a Central Florida this far South? Curious?

- They're 'available' (not tied to a BCS conference)

- Just like Miami talked about their alumni up north (and the desire to bring Syr. and BC to the ACC), there are a lot of Yankees down in Orlando now that would love to see their team come to town. Orlando's population looks like some of Manhattan were scooped out and plopped down in the middle of FL

- BE's is in rebuilding mode now and has to start from the ground up for football. What's interesting is how much they now resemble the ACC in 1990. Basketball is the strength now (when you add in the non-football memebers) and they need a powerhouse to bring football back to the forefront. We had the luxury of an independent FSU when we invited them. Can they lure a powerhouse from another conference while still having basketball only members? doubt it. Will UCF bring as much clout as FSU did for the ACC? ummmm no. Would ND? Yes. Will ND come to the BE? The magic 8 ball says not likely.

Just the ramblings of a man tired of working today,
JJ
