Watching the Gainesville/Ware Co. game last night got me thinking is Deshaun Watson the best player in Ga. High School history? I have personally seen this kid play 3 times and he has been starting since he was a freshman. Not only did they win the state vs. a South Georgia team they blew them out. His career numbers are insane.
There have been a lot of players that had sensational Junior & Senior years but not many make noise for 4 years. What other players come to mind for you guys?

Billy Ray of Dunwoody and Charles Dudish of Avondale were the best high school QB's I have seen.

Billy Ray I remember that name. I think he graduated about the same time I did. Signed with Bama I am pretty sure and ...... Never heard of him until now. Funny how some players go to college and you never here from them again.

Timmy Smith from Central Gwinnett in '94. Couldnt stay out of trouble or would have set all of the records. Watched on film run for 221 yards.... in the first quarter of a game. We played them the following week. Took it 80 yards to the house on the first play. Had 2 more 70+ yard runs against us that night. Oh, .....and he was only a Sophmore. Got kicked out of school the following year and never played again. Freaking incredible player.

I saw him last year beat the piss out of Stephens County. He was a man among boys then too. I thought to myself that he would look great on the flats.

I would bet good money he will be starting for Clemson in 3 years. Might get the nod in 2 years but he looks perfect for their current system. We will regret playing them in a few years I would bet.

The greatest player in GA HS history played for Johnson County.

Transferred to Duke.

Not much else has ever happend in Wrightsville. But you are right. I wonder how different the world would have been if he went to GT.

Curry tells an excellent story about how he nievely believed we had a shot at Herschel since GT was such a fine school - sucker.

UGAg seated 59,000 when he got there, 82,000+ when he left.

Yep. I believe it was 1975, GT was not on the field, so a buddy of mine and I went to ugag game vs Pitt. 32,000, IIRC, were in attendance. I think that was the game when a frosh named Dorsett played his first game for Pitt. Could have dates wrong, but the point is what can happen.

Greatest GA High School players? Wow.

Walker - Dudish - Swilling - Dent - Castleberry - Gulledge - Kell - Van Dora - Lothridge - man the list could go forever.

Our all time record against UGA was 31-38 when he got there...although we were trending down anyway. Maybe Herschel could have helped reverse it and we would be in a much better place in an 80,000 seat BDS stadium. Just never know.
