If you want to see a HC search that is truly embarassing, go take a look at the Arkansas HC Search. They have been turned down 3 times now.
 
This makes sense. He is just not an SEC guy IMO. He made a lot of sense at Nebraska though. Maybe MICH offered him twice the money.

For those of you/us who think we're looking like a laughingstock, take a look at the Hogs.

Granted, waiting on a coach to say yes to us or SMU seems a lot like waiting on our last commit to come in on February 5th when we know it will be some D3 prospect that us, Vandy and duke all of a sudden decided could play D1.

If SMU wants him so bad, maybe we should stop playing the coaching game now.
 
Wow. They're gonna burn this state down. I better make plans to return to the ATL!

They have also been throwing alot of cash out there, looks like they have it, maybe we dont.
 
I want my employer to know that I am now being considered by Arkansas. Sooey pig!
 
Didn't they offer Nutt an extension and he just left instead? In that way, it's Nutt, Tuberville (allegedly), Bowden (allegedly), and Grobe. Anyone else I'm forgetting?
 
I think Arkansas newspapers and TV stations look to have sources as accurate as all of ours. I will say that I think most reports from sources have at least a grain of truth but as the prince of Gimunda once said "things must and always do change my friend."
 
Maybe they should stop leaking out all of their news before the deal is finished.
 
He was probably reading StingTalk and saw my post about McFadden leaving after this year.

UA President said they offered him an extension, but he was fired. Multiple member of the board of trustees have said so publicly. (Why else would you pay someone $3M to walk away from a contract?) They tried to make it look like they didn't fire a coach who won 18 games the last two years so that other coaches wouldn't be afraid to come here.

The sources are accurate enough that all of these coaches have received new deals to stay at their current school. Part of the reason Arkansas is getting turned down is they are shooting pretty high - HC from BCS conferences that have been to BCS bowls (except Bowden - that one was weird). Grobe got as far as the board of trustees meeting to approve the contract last night - which they only would have done if Grobe had accepted.

Maybe this is what happened with WM. Just before he went to our board for a pproval he signed a big money deal to remain as DC at Auburn.:laugher:
 
Ark offered Nutt $2.4 million per year extension and he turned it down
one of the reasons that you get better info about that search is how they pay the coach. university money only pays a portion of the salary then a private fund kicks in the rest. that private fund meets and votes and approves a pay package for the coach that they want to hire. what that means is that unless all the people in that meeting dont talk (very unlikely) then someone tells the media who just got voted on. this is BEFORE the official offer is made, but likely not before their is an understanding in principle

You are right about the Arkansas process making it easier to get info about search. However, Nutt was never really offered an extension. Everyone here knows that. The board/foundation would have never approved it because most of its members wanted him gone.
