GT #15 in Coaches Poll...other teams...

UGA always manages to hang onto that 25th spot. Same as last year after Vandy. What's their weeks ranked streak at?

I saw that, and this is why I hate preseason polls. VT has not proven itself to be a top 25 team at this point. Let them earn it.

I am not saying they are out, but they do not deserve it at this point until they get an offense going.

Edit: UGA was out of the top 25 for a little while until the end of last season.

For those with sick feelings we were #15 heading into the VT game in 2005 and #13 when we played Clemson last year. If the annual nutpunch is coming it will be one of the next three games.

I'm pleasantly surprised by that ranking - same ranking in AP. I was expecting to pick up 4 spots but was unsure how far VPI and UGA would fall. Cal and Texas deserve to fall out of the top 15 - certainly out of the top 10 - pitiful showings by both yesterday. App State is in "others receiving votes" this week. UGA is 23 in the AP, but they have Alabama in two weeks so that may be shortlived.

To add to the queaziness, the last time Tech scored over 100 in consecutive games (Citadel & Navy in 2001), they lost to Clempsin 47-44 the next week.

That doesn't sound all bad to me...if we put up 44 next week I think we win.

Alot of people are pointing out consistencies in this year and 2001, but unless we have something happen on Tuesday to wreck the season, then don't count on it.

Odd enough though that the games are all being played on the exact same days as they were in 2001 - even our Thursday night game. In 01 it was North Carolina on the Flats, this year it's Virginia Tech, both on November 1st.

Perhaps these are signs that our season of promise has returned and with no national tragedies to send it to pieces, we may be looking at something special.

This time, our big-time game on September 15th will come as scheduled and if we win - look out.

Really? Who was our quarterback way back then?

Wow, SC climbs in the AP poll 15 spots --from 32 to 17-- with their win over UGA.

As I recall, we won that game! Pretty good game too!

Unless I'm misremembering it, we had a bye, then we were supposed to play FSU but the terrorists screwed the weekend of football up (O'Leary was very vocal that we should have played) and then UNC beat FSU the following week, and we lost to Clemson after not playing for like a month. The refs blowing that fumble we returned for a TD dead still chaps my hide to this day, because it would have sealed the game early.
