Well, CBS Sportline is now reporting on their projections web page that if USC & Washington State make the BCS (a WSU win over UCLA on Saturday would set this up), the Seattle Bowl would have to pick another at-large team as all Pac-10 teams would move up and Oregon would no longer be available. So, a team like Texas A & M, Ole Miss, Bowling Green or Northern Illinois would be picked.

Keep in mind that if UCLA beats WSU on Saturday, then USC goes to the Rose and Notre Dame slides into the BCS, which bumps up all Big East teams one slot. This would cause Virginia Tech to go to the Tire Bowl in Charlotte and the Bowl would then invite us instead of UVA.

So, UCLA wins Saturday and we go to Charlotte vs VT. WSU wins and we go to Seattle vs Texas A & M, Ole Miss or someone else.

RB,
Thanks for the info. What a mess this bowl system is. Of course a playoff system would make too much sense and be too practical...and also it would make every game critically important as opposed to these totally meaningless bowl games now.

I would thing we would be the most popular girl at the party, all the fellows would like to spend the afternoon with us.

I am not sure that a bowl game is in the program's best interests right now. Yes, I realize that the 2 1/2 to 3 weeks of practice would be valuable for the younger players, but I feel that the players have phoned it in and would make a poor showing of themselves in a bowl game. I really hate to think that, but I do.

I also do not think that the program's fate is sealed and that we are doomed. The coaching staff could use Dec. to recruit, recruit, and recruit some more. Coach Gailey can reassess all aspects of the program and make the needed changes. It will become apparently quickly next year (on the road vs. BYU to open the year and Auburn at home) if he is unable to do this. If so, then he should be canned. Until then, he should be given a chance to right the ship--NO COACH IN THE COUNTRY, EVEN ONE AT A FOOTBALL FACTORY IS GONNA BE CANNED AFTER A 7-5 SEASON, NO MATTER HOW BAD THE SEASON ENDED. How many candidates would want the GT job if they were subject to being fired after a winning season (albeit a shaky one)?

My expectations are NOT lowered, nor should Gailey be on the 5 yr. plan, he should be given a year 2.
