Mind blowing to think of Durham as being a 'tough' place to play, but the Rambling Wrecks have had a tough time up there. Tech now leads in Durham 19-18 which includes 2 Ws in a row & 6 Ws in last 7 trips up there. The Devils actually led the series @ Home 17-13 14 yrs ago. Glad to have a serious winning run going vs Duke.
Ga Tech, & Head Coach Gailey, really need a victory over North Carolina to reach a non losing ACC record for a staggering 13 straight seasons! That would also give our Jackets 11 straight winning seasons.
Gailey has won more ACC gms in the past 3 seasons than anyone except Beamer @ Va Tech, so let's don't lose sight of that factoid.......

What is interesting to me is that 5 teams are within two games of each other...a lot of parity.

Also..that so many schools have passed by the once dominant FSU and Miami.

And Gailey and team achieved this record with only 79 scholorships.

I am not one of the koolaid drinkers, but Gailey has kept this program afloat despite many obsticles. I thought this year would be special, but considering the injuries, our lack of quality depth, a new quarterback, new wr and cb, we are still bowl eligible.

Also, Virginia is a good team and I think many people on these boards and also the coachs and the playlers were truly disapporinted in that loss to what they perceived was an inferior team which probably affected their play at Maryland.

One more thing:
THIS IS THE YEAR WE WILL BEAT THE LEG HUMPERS.

I think with the antics of Rev. Richt, that team is about to implode. I see them becoming more undisciplined each game by the number of penalties they get for late hits. So far it has not hurt them, but it will in a close game.

Sorry for ramblin on, which is why I don't post often.

Why do we keep hearing the lack of depth debate? Gailey has had many years of recruiting here. I assume that you are really saying Gailey can't recruit!

Jim Donnan was fired after losing to Tech 3 times and compiling a 40-19 record. Chan's record is 43-35 and is 0-5 against UGA.

But we'll never be as good as UGA so why fire Chan, right?

I think he is referring the the NCAA limits put on us that put us 6 below the others each year for 3 years. Last year was the only year I would claim this truly affected us as we had to turn away some talented prospects that wanted to come. If we do not close well this year in late November it will only be because we have all stirred up so much crap and let the AJC feed on us by calling our recruits to spook them.

Best way to handle it will be to take care of things on the field the last two weeks...at least in terms of recruiting. It would be nice to put together back-to-back classes like last years.

FWIW, something like a third of Donnan's team went on to play in the NFL. He was fired for drastically under-performing.

Whether Chan under-performs is a different topic. And in any case, he'll get canned this year if he loses to UGA anyway.

I cannot think of a time in GT history except for the Dodd days and maybe before, when GT did not have an issue with a lack of depth. It is rare that we don't have a fairly significant dropoff from 1st to 2nd string in physical ability alone. In the mid 90's with O'leary, we could keep up with FSU until 4th quarter. Since we were unable to sub our 1st string out to rest because of the significant dropoff in our 2nd string, we would tire and lose.

The fact that we only had 79 scholorships to hand out exacerbated the problem. Flunkgate was a problem also.
