GT Getting Some Recognition

Thought this thread was a good place for this:

The amount of positive press we've gotten in just a few days is incredible. I can't keep up with it all. Seems like our biggest win for public opinion of GT since 2014!
Yeah, it really is just unbelievable to see after where we’ve been. It’s like a dream. This fanbase is united and the country now knows the new GT. It really is amazing. We gotta keep winning because this is way too fun.

Going 3-9 in 2015 after all the positive momentum we had in 2014 just crushed the program in public perception, and we never recovered. I was higher on Tech football going into 2015 than at any time in my life. I matriculated in 1994 so I missed out on 1990.

The unfortunate reality is that media would always at least low key if not overtly hate on the flexbone or otherwise identify it as a gimmick that took someone by surprise. That sentiment took away from the team’s accomplishment and skill and stuck a ‘yeah, but’ in everyone’s mind when they talked about the program. There is none of that in what happened last Saturday. No real hot take to call it a fluke or say it’s because of some perception of trickery.

Drawing bama seems like a tough draw oh well at least saban is gone

Honestly might not be a terrible draw for us. We’ve just run for 200 against teams that were billed as having the best DLs in the country late last year and to start this year. Maybe we can just run on anybody?

And maybe I end up looking stupid, but I’m still of the opinion that Milroe looks more like an option QB who wouldn’t have started over Justin Thomas. Like I’m dumbfounded by the hype he gets. The only difference I see between him and a guy like Castellanos is their teammates.

And at that point you’re going to be playing somebody really good regardless. I think I’d prefer it to be a team without an elite arm at QB so we might see another game like we just watched.

Well DeBoer ain’t no Ray Perkins, nor Bill Curry either. His record is insane. My guess is still that he’ll be very successful.

But sometimes success doesn’t translate to a vastly different culture. And sometimes there were key assistants that were more important than anyone realized (see Dan Hawkins and Chris Petersen).

Honestly I thought PJ would be far better at GT than he turned out to be. I mean, if you mapped what he did at Navy and Southern to Tech’s resources. But recruiting at this level was his Achilles’ heel, and he also never managed to hire a really good DC.

Something like that could happen to DeBoer, who hasn’t been at any D1 program long enough to show he can sustain success.

The idiots in charge of signing the check wouldn't let PJ hire his candidate. Its amazing CPJ did what he did given the cheapskates and idiots boxing him in at every turn.

That’s a shame. Who was his candidate?

That’s been a problem for Tech football for a very long time. Ross dealt with some of the same things. I felt that O’Leary got more support from the Hill than anyone else, including the stadium expansion done the year he bailed. And it showed.
