GT has toughest ACC schedule

Wake Forest got it pretty good this year... I would not be surprised to see them in Tampa again. If we get 6 or 7 wins with our schedule I will be proud.

7 will be much different than 6 this year. We need 7 to be bowl eligible because we play two 1AA teams.

I will be disappointed, but understanding if we win less than 7.

11. Virginia Tech -- Considering the Hokies don't play Clemson or Wake Forest, their odds to be in the title game just increased. We already know they can beat East Carolina (albeit barely), so back-to-back road trips to North Carolina and Nebraska should reveal more about this team.

So question, because I can't remember.. Is it overall ACC record or division record that gets you to the finals? Seems like a shaft that VT doesn't play Clemson and we do.

ACC record. Divisional record is 2nd tiebreaker after head to head

Yeah, I don't understand scheduling two 1AA teams from a bowl-eligibility aspect - Did some 1A teams cancel out and we just had to backfill with anything we could get? Hope this is just a one-time thing in '08 - 'Course, this is probably the year we will be scratching the most to get bowl eligible, while we're still trying to learn the option offense and adjust recruiting targets accordingly.

yes, Army backed out.

This is exactly why the ACC, and all conferences for that matter, needs to go to 9 or even 10 conf. games a season instead of 8. Everyone plays just about everyone and a true champion is crowned. No team has an easier route to the ACCCG.

Also, this would eliminate alot of the the D-1AA games being scheduled. More meaningful and exciting games would be on the schedules.

We tried to schedule teams like Louisville, but they didn't want to play us also other schools wouldn't play us, so its not like we didn't try to schedule D1A

I doubt it. 10 conference games would probably kill most good OOC games completely since teams will get lazy and go for easy wins/extra home games.

For us, a 10-game conference schedule would probably result in playing Samford (or equivalent DI-AA team) and UGA ever year.

I'm slightly more optimistic about a 9-game conference schedule.

Well, it is good that you are prepared. We win five at the most. Probably 4.

Radakovich would do us all a service if he got rid of Gardner-Webb and Jax in favor of someone like Tennessee, South Carolina, South Florida, Alabama, Texas Tech, or even UAB and Central Florida---some interesting and meaningful OOC games.

we tried several good d1a teams and nobody wanted to add us this year

Sounds nice and easy, since no team has their non-conference schedule done years in advance.

GT was close to getting Rutgers to fill-in for Army, but it fell through. We were left scrambling and GW was about the best that we could do.

Financially, we are getting Jax. St. and GW on the cheap--Jax St. for only $200k; the going rate now for cupcakes is several hundred thousand to a million. Given the youth of this team as well as the need for the GTAA to make more $$$, it is understandable for this season (and this season only) to have 2 I-AA schools on the schedule.

Our future non-conference schedule is fine--Alabama comes on in a few seasons.

After being a so-so team and beating ND, Auburn there hasn't been much interest. We had Alabama and they backed out. Army backed out.

Seems like everyone want the guarantee win.

If Clemson spanks 'Bama they won't be pushing for the opening game @ the dome again....regardless of money, that extar loss can kill a coach.

WOW! You're brilliant!!!! Why hasn't anyone at GTAA thought of that!!!

You blithering idiot.
