GT & ND 8:00 P.M With College Game Day Here!

This would be the best win of the Gailey regime if we can pull it off. Beating a highly ranked Notre Dame team on National TV is just shy of beating the mutts. Let's pound 'em.

Wow!! That is good news. I wonder if Corso will adorn the Buzz head. I used to think Corso was a curse when he picked your team, but lately he's been on the money with his picks. I think he even picked VT over GT in a game that "wouldn't be close" when they were on VT's campus last year.

The greatest moment in the history of 'Game Day' was when Corso's car was struck by lightning. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hugelaugh.gif

I really like our chances for this game. I think we'll have a strong team all around, and say what you will about CG, but he always seems to have a couple big upset victories, especially in these early games (i.e., Auburn 2x). What better way to start a season.
Note: WE HAVE TO SELL OUT BDS WITH TECH FOLKS! I hate seeing the whole upper deck in some other color, and I would especially hate to see our whole new addition in green. Buy your season tickets now! And if you've got money, buy season tix for some poor Tech fan you know.
To Hell With da Irish!

Maybe this is a hive question, but when do we get to buy individual tickets? I am a season ticket holder and could easily put some folks in gold in some seats - just not MY seats. I hope I have not missed it/thrown something away/not paid attention.

I hope that they don't blow the opportunity to sell all possible to us first. I'd even be willing to buy and sell at cost to stingtalkers if given the opportunity to purchase before the general public (i.e. Notre Dame folks) get to buy. I'm sure many of us would just to put gold in the seats.

This is true, however, I will not consider GT defeating ND an upset although the media certainly will.

I agree, but there are two things that I keep thinking about.

1.) The way Utah picked our defense apart. ND has a better coach, better receivers, and the best QB in the country.

2.) Our secondary is hurting badly. Our secondary will not be nearly as good as it was the last two years.

Weiss is a very solid coach. I'm not ready to anoint him the second coming of ND glory, because quite honestly, I am not at all impressed with their 9 win season last year. Ty Willingham turned in a 9 win season and he did it against better competition. Look what happened to him.

That said this game will come down to Weiss offense vs a Tenuta Defense, and quite frankly who makes the better adjustments. Thinking back to the Utah game, I am still nervous that we could get our ass kicked. But like you infered, we play up to our competition and have been great in season opening big games. This game could really go anwhere.

I actually need someone to buy a flex pack for me because I'm scared they're going to sell out and don't really have the money for season tix at the moment. (I could pay for the flex pack now though) I'm thinking about getting the ND, Miami and Virginia game and picking up my other tickets down there day of game because people always dump there Samford, Troy's, etc.'s.

Tenuta pulled a Gailey on the Utah game and refused to budge from his original game plan. The field was so poor that our CB's, ten yards off the line, couldn't cover the quick slant, which of course negated our pass rush (also hampered). I was screaming (at the TV) at Tenuta to put the DB's on the line. I am hoping that with a decent field and a humbled defensive coach, that we'll be okay against ND. BUT, I do agree with you that we could be in for a long day.

There is no doubt in my mind that our offense has to outplay ND's offense for us to win. Now, is that going to happen?

I don't understand why the lack of adjustment in that game either. Teams are now going to use those quick routes until we prove we can stop them.

I'm not as worried about our secondary as some are. The guys we lost weren't great coverage guys anyway. I'm more concerned about the new guys abilities to help with run support, because that was the strong suite of our secondary last year IMO. I think this is offset by the an improved overall front 7 though.
It will be strength vs. strength (with their O vs. our D) and weakness vs. weakness. Much like in all our games, if can get anything out of our offense we'll win.
