A lot has been said about the many players who seemed not ready for the big stage on Saturday. But I think PJ, the refs, didn't have a particularly good game either.

Also remember that we were playing a Top Ten team on the road. The fact that it was our first real test of the year matters, but statistics suggest that any Top Ten team on the road is tough to beat.

We have a tough schedule. We are missing the beast Shaq Mason from the OL, not to mention a lot of physical upperclassman skill players.

It is what it is. We have a brutal schedule ...and we're still Georgia Tech. Enjoy the ride. I remember 63-7 type games.

People who thought that the loss of NFL caliber WRs, RBs and Linemen was not going to have any effect simply did not know what they were talking about.

This year was never gonna be one of our best, because of the massive loss of experienced talent and the crazy tough schedule. This is a year to get our young team some experience and develop some leaders. If we want to hype up a year, 2016 always was the one (with JT in his senior season and a lot of the players in this team will also be on next year's team).

I'm glad half of you already sold this season away, lowering expectations to deal with massive butthurt and the other half of you just gave up on the team altogether. Next year was gonna be our year! Yall sound like a bunch of challenged dwags.

Truth. I really believe the team that ended last year would've won this game, and could've beaten anyone in the country at that point. But this isn't that team and they need time to grow. I do believe the pieces are there and I still believe in JT.

I don't buy this at all. Yes, we lost players. It happens literally every year. Shaq is gone but our line is still capable. Our AB's and WR's are unproven but I don't believe the notion that they need a full year in order to start contributing. We got blown up in the trenches and the rest of our offense followed. Our defense is better than last year and that's going to give us more breathing room while these less experienced or unproven players are getting themselves together.

This time a year ago, I'd have agreed that we were a year or two away, but then they showed us what they were capable of and now it is next year. There are plenty of things to be excited about for next year but that doesn't mean this season is probably some 7 win throwaway while we wait.

Yup. Next year, by my count, we're losing 7 defensive starters. It's just part of the college game.

This. Even with the tougher schedule I thought the offense would have been much more prepared for that environment in ND. I'm worried about next year with losing so much On defense. Still time to be proven wrong. Win at Clemson and at home vs. UGA and we are going to be in great shape. I'm worried about @Miami. They don't tend to play well there.

10-2 or 9-3 would be a great season though. I still think GT needs that consecutive 10 win season to really bump up recruiting.

I don't think everyone who is saying that 2016 is most likely going to be the best is saying this year is over - I am certainly not. I made the comment the other night to put some things in perspective.

Is it an excuse for Saturday's loss? No. But, for me, it's also not surprising we lost knowing that our young guys were starting in only their third game and one that was several orders of magnitude tougher than their previous two games.

What excites me about the season now is seeing how JT and the other team leaders respond to the loss. This weekend, IMO, IS the biggest game of the season because it is going to tell us a lot about this team (and will tell us a lot about the future of this program). If they can take inspiration/motivation from the loss and come out and put Duke on their asses, I think we have a real shot of getting back into the CFP conversation and certainly a shot at another ACCCG appearance.

Can we get 20 wins 2014+2015? That would be more than remarkable. Back to back New Years Six bowls---that would be amazing. I think it is still doable. Especially if we end up playing 14 games this year.

Miami was the only game I picked us to lose before the season. And I still don't like it. I still say we win 9 games minimum in the regular season. Predicting the Clemson game is hopeless. I think we are capable of getting all over Florida State and VPI based on what I've seen from them thus far. Georgia, I don't know yet simply because they haven't played enough. They're not the juggernaut people are going to say they are simply because of the SC game and I still think they lose to both Tennessee and Florida.

I'll honestly be surprised and very disappointed if we do not. The NY6 thing is a little harder to predict just because we don't have any idea whether an ACC team can/will get into the playoff. Clemson is probably the best hope for it outside of us and if they're our ACCCG opponent in this scenario, I'm taking us to beat them all day regardless of how the first game plays out.

On Saturday, I was drunk, I was excited. I was in South Bend hosting a great tailgate with cyp. I wanted total annihilation of Notre Dame. Instead we got beat. I was mad. I was mad to the point that I was starting to cuss notre dame fans around me, might have said something about gays at one point, which wasn't nice because their fans are really hospitable. I even told corndog over fb that I'm done with these losers. Left the game and started walking back to the car. Butthurt lasted about 10-15 minutes. I started sobering up and thinking about the game. I remembered the defense keeping us in the game against a top 10 team. Eventhough they were on the field a lot more than usual because of all our three-and-outs, they kept us in the game all the way to the end. I also remembered our team as a whole not quitting until the very end, which says a lot more than us losers. And then I remembered that we did all this away at one of the best atmospheres in all of college football that is very intimidating for any visitiors that come in, and in front of a sold out crowd.

This team is still capable of winning every single game on the schedule if they stay healthy. That defense is something else. And I ain't afraid of uga or FSU or VT or UNC or anybody else that comes into Bobby Dodd. They will handle them.
