GT no. 1 in HD's new ACC power rankings...

Haha. We were #1 before the UVA game, then #6 after the UVA game, now #1 again. "What a conference" is right.

Virginia Tech is ranked #9 and is still very much in the race.

Way too much parity in ACC play...again.

We're gonna run away with this thing in the next year or 2 though.

If we played Wake again, there's no way in hades we'd lose. JMO.

she followed that up by predicted GT vs. wake rematch in tampa with wake winning again:

as long as there's a TD scored by someone this time around, i'm fine with that.

Just don't see that happening. Wake is good, and Grobe is without a doubt one of the finest coaches in the ACC or the BCS conferences for that matter, but I'd put a 3 to 1 odds on whoever ends up in Tampa that the Coastal division rep goes to Orange Bowl.

God I hope Wake can hold on long enough to keep FSU out of it. They're damn good.

My first thought was Wake has no chance...but they have UVA and BC at home and NC State away. They absolutely could win out. Barring a 3-way tie (which I'm not even going to attempt all of the possible outcomes) they would need Maryland to lose 2. Maryland has VT / BC away and UNC /F$U at home so they could definitely lose two.

That is the advantage that we have over a lot of other teams:

We are already 4-2 in the conference.

If we can beat Miami and UNC, we'll only need one other team to lose out of the VT/Virginia group. Granted, beating UNC will be no small feat, and neither will Miami. But we are capable.

The VT/Virginia game is a toss up right now. In the past few years VT takes that game. The best chance for VT to lose is Maryland this weekend. Hopefully old Fridge does us a favor there. If not, we have to hope Wake takes care of Virginia and Virginia takes care of VT.

Lots of convoluted scenarios. But all we need to do is win out. 9-2 heading into UGA will be an amazing season, with or without the ACC title game.

I would have agreed with you at the beginning of the season....but knowing what I know now, I think we are the best team in the ACC. It would be disappointing to be the best and not have a chance to play for it in Tampa. I know we didnt bring the A game against VT and Uva and it might cost us that chance. With that said, I think if we take care of business good things will happen....there's a lot of football left to go.

I don't know about Wake. UMD controls their own destiny in the Atlantic and VPI/UVA control theirs in the Coastal.

Whatever the case, the race to Tampa won't be boring.

When we're healthy we're the best team in the ACC, now that we know what we're doing.

But we ain't healthy by a long shot.
