Interesting how we have a better average total offense yet they have a much better PPG.

Yeah, but how about the two biggies:

TO Margin?

Yards per pass attempt?

UGa is averaging a TD for every 83 yards of offense.
Tech is averaging a TD for every 103 yards of offense.

That is a big difference.

Not to greedy but are the red zone conversion figures available? I'm interested in # of RZ possessions, RZ FGs and RZ TDs.

I think the results might be interesting.

Yeah, but how about the two biggies:

TO margin:
GT (-2)
GA (+2)

First seven games GT turned the ball over 6 times, GA 5 times.

However, last four games GT turned the ball over 14 times, GA 10 times.

Yards per pass attempt:
GT 6.74
GA 7.09

I'm curious about those just as you are --but I haven't found those numbers.

Wow, I expected the TO Margin and Y/a numbers to be significantly different.

That's the first news I've heard that makes me think this might not be a blowout.

What is the line on the game? After blowing out Notre Dame, Samford, Army...beating Duke, UNC, Miami (barely)and legit win vs Clemson I would expect it to be 7-9pts. Where do we find the line?

If you look through our stats on a play-by-play basis and compare to most other teams, we have far fewer big plays (20+ yards plays) than most teams. Most people get the majority of their big plays in the passing game and our passing game sucks. Tashard is a great RB, but lacks big time, breakaway speed so we are not getting TDs even when he breaks it. As a result, we end up having to chain together a larger number of plays to get to the endzone which gives you more opportunities to make drive killing mistakes (penalties, tackles for loss, turnovers, etc...). In addition, it seems like once we get to the yellow zone we are more concerned with making sure we get the FG than going for a TD.

Your answers

Red Zone offense Tech 54th at 82.93% ugag 4th at 93.02. Red Zone TDs scored, Tech 99th 48.78 and ugag 10th 72.02.

Defense: Tech 40 at 76.92 and ugag 63rd 81.06. TDs allowed Tech 24th 50%, ugag 22nd 48.65.

So, they're more efficient in the Red Zone, particularly in scoring 6. Both defenses are good at stopping the TD.

Scoring Offense versus Winning Teams:

GT = 12.3 ppg
UGA = 30.3 ppg

Total Offense versus Winning Teams:

GT = 286.3 yds
UGA = 364.4 yds

We apparently only have offense when we play crap teams.

I was a bit surprised at the closeness of most of the stats between the two teams.

Along with the 3rd down conversion offensive numbers --the RZ offensive stats concern me.

Nice link nc --thanks.

JTS: Scoring Offense versus Winning Teams:

Yeah --we're averaging like 44 ppg against the 'bad', 23 against the 'average' and less than 2 td's against ranked opponents. Not good. Also, UGA has been on an offensive roll against some good competition.

One other thing I thought I'd throw out there is a Choice/Moreno comparison:

TC 20th 117.6 ypg, 5.25 ypc, 9 td
KM 25th 111.6 ypg, 5.53 ypc, 12 td

You can throw all the stats out the window. This is the ultimate grudge match.

TO HELL WITH GEORGIA...and you're little dog too!

Thanks for the info 6589!

IMO, these stats will be the tell tale on Saturday afternoon. Our Defense can NOT let them convert more than 35% on 3rd down. I think that will be the biggest key.

You did forget one though 6589:

Total Number of UGAy assholes: every damn one of em as far as I am concerned.

GO Jackets!!

Bust Their Asses!!
