It would be interesting to see Chan's record against "winning" teams during his tenure here on the flats.

GT's record broken out against <.500 teams and >=.500 teams (the first record listed for each season will be against sub-.500 teams, the second against .500 or better teams, the last is overall record for the season):

2002: (4-0) .. (3-6) .. 7-6
2003: (3-2) .. (4-4) .. 7-6
2004: (4-0) .. (3-5) .. 7-5
2005: (4-0) .. (3-5) .. 7-5
2006: (5-0) .. (4-5) .. 9-5
2007: (6-1) .. (1-3) .. 7-4

total: (26-3 .896) . (18-28 .409) . (44-31 .586)

I remember hearing a Chan Gailey interview after the 2005 season. He was asked about his feelings of finishing with a fourth straight seven-win season.

Gailey was immediately defensive and his response was something along the lines of, "Well, we beat the teams we were favored against and lost to the teams who we were not favored to beat." I remember thinking how lame that reply was --and I actually felt bad for him that he could not come up with a better response than what he did.

The Clemson win this year was his first against a ranked at BDS since 2004.

What, he gets penalized because we had to play #12 VT on the road last year? Or had to play #17 Auburn and #3 Miami on the road in 2005?

Give me a break.
