Guess who\'s name is being talked about at Clemson.....

it may be too early at Clem and son to off T Bowden, but his welcome may be wearing thin....certainly the folks at footballscoop.com think so. This site has suspect credibility as they will post virtually any rumor, but I thought this name was particularly interesting

is Boss Ross ready to come back to the ACC and would he be successful if he did or is he too wore out from the bitter experience he had at Detroit? Thoughts?

How old is Ross. I doubt he would want to coach again. When we get to a certain age, we have to start cramming for our finals. That would leave us little time for coaching.

I have my doubts about the football scoop. The were all over the map with the Tech job. I think Ross is probably content with retirement.

I can promise you Coach Ross is very happy in retirement living in Virginia. It is a credit to him to be named as even a possible candidate though.

Ross at Clemson? I don't see it.

Re: Guess who\'s name is being talked about at Clemson.....

I DO RECALL ROSS ALWAYS SAYING HOW MUCH HE ENJOYED PLAYING CLEMSON AT DEATH VALLEY with its atmosphere, big crowds, etc. Could be unless he's permanantly hung it up.

In hindsight, do you think Ross was the key to his success or was it Friedgen. Ross was a stellar coach his entire career - and always had Friedgen; Ross went to Detroit Friedgenless and became a head case.

Was Ross really the brains behind his success or was it Friedgen?

Coaching in Detroit probably had a lot to do with it too

Re: Guess who\'s name is being talked about at Clemson.....

Wasn't it Ross' brains that hired Friedgen in the first place? It is the head coaches job to assemble the best talent possible and let them coach.

Well I just wonder how well Ross would have done without Friedgen.

Maybe its not coincidental that O'Leary didn't do too well after Friedgen left and Ross didn't either. Sure, both were mighty brainy for hiring Friedgen - but do you think their records would have been nearly as stellar without Friedgen.

Or, maybe Ross is responsible for Friedgen's success as his mentor - if in fact he was - for years - or did Friedgen teach Ross?

I don't have an opinion. Merely just a musing.

Goldbuzz, pretty good musings, seems to be a common thread.

Some pretty funny stuff on there.

FSU alums courting Amato back? Can't see that happening since Amato is an NC State alum.

UF looking at Mark Richt and Gailey? Not after 1 year w/ Zook. If that happened, I would think Richt and Gailey would be too smart to step into that hornets nest.

Bowden leaving Clemson? Funny thing is I work w/ a Tiger alum, and he had told me the same thing a couple of weeks ago.

Now, the question I have is, how would this affect our recruiting if it happened? There are a couple of guys that we offered that have verbaled there. Could we change their mind?

Personally, I am glad we have the staff we have. Gailey has kept the team together and focused in spite of the adversity. Tenuta has done wonders with the Defense, and since BO'B went upstairs, the offensive play calling has looked much better.
