Guys,

This one coach has to be one of the alltime greats in any book there is. What an impact he has been, is now, and will continue to be on so many lives either associated with GT or whomever.

His articles are too loaded to take lightly but too light to get down over. As I started reading this article by Coach Bill Curry, I thought to myself, "and what are coaches for?", since I have done the same type stuff to my old coaches.

For all of the players who played under Bill Curry, they have to be some of the most fortunate people today. I would have just liked to have had an opportunity to watch one practice, much less played for the guy.

Lastly, it's good to see how he remembers these fellows who are serving in the armed forces and do not have the freedom at this time to watch these football games.

God, bless them all.

Thanks rome for directing me to that article this morning. Another excellent read from Bill Curry, as most all of his articles are.

Alright this is going back a few years (1983) but as a senior in high school I was able to meet Coach Curry at a DeKalb County Touchdown Club meeting. He presented me with somekind of "Back of the Week" award or something. Anyway, as a life long Jacket fan (as well as being named after a Tech legend) I have always counted it a highlight to meet the Coach and be able to speak with him for a few minutes. Great guy.

Three,

I've never met Bill Curry personally, however I have heard him speak and I have read many articles by him. From what I have read and heard about BC, I would venture to say that he was probably as thrilled to give you the award, if not more than you were thrilled to receive it.

My first HS football banquet was a father/son banquet with Coach Bobby Dodd as the speaker. I did get to meet him personally and I'll have to admit, that was a high point in my life.

Men of the caliber of Bobby Dodd, Bill Curry, Nick Hyder and others have made an impact on many a young guy's life. Only time will tell for sure but I also thing Chan Gailey will fit into that loop too at some point. Hope so anyway.

I can tell you that this quote from the article is absolutely on the mark "You'd think their first thoughts would be of food, sleep or a hot shower. All of those things are on their minds, but first they want to see how their teams did, or are doing. They want to watch someone, anyone, throw a touchdown pass, or run back a kickoff, or just make a good tackle."

I can't tell you how much it meant to us that an e-mail sneaking thru with the score, a recap, an update etc took our minds off the business at hand and made life bearable.

Oh. Really.

Subscribe to an education. How pathetic.

I bee stupid. I no want bee hurt.
