Not football, but isn't this in essence what happened to Michigan basketball as a result of the Chris Webber affair?

Villanova had to do it,in the late 60's,for basketball.A player named Howard Porter got them in trouble,and their 2nd place finish to UCLA,in 69 or 70,is vacated.

Alabama had to vacate its 1993 wins because of Antonio Langham signing with an agent after the 1992 season.

you link says Alabama had to forfeit games. Thats different from having them vacated.

"Games in which any of these athletes competed become a non-event. There is no ripple effect to other schools," Marsh said. "It takes off the competitive record of the school that had these violations."
