asked to vacate games and give back trophies? I've never heard of it, even for outright "sins of commission" cheaters. I suspect the UGA AD personally recommended that sanction. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puke.gif

Not football, but isn't this in essence what happened to Michigan basketball as a result of the Chris Webber affair?

Villanova had to do it,in the late 60's,for basketball.A player named Howard Porter got them in trouble, and their 2nd place finish to UCLA,in 69 or 70,is vacated.

you link says Alabama had to forfeit games. Thats different from having them vacated.

"Games in which any of these athletes competed become a non-event. There is no ripple effect to other schools," Marsh said. "It takes off the competitive record of the school that had these violations."

That means UGA still has to acknowledge the losses /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hugelaugh.gif
