Well we surely have. On Oct 10, 1925 Bill Alexander's Golden Tornado defeated the Nittany Lions of Penn St 16-7 in Yankee Stadium. Tech finished 6-2-1 in '25.
Before 1960 the Big City would try to host big games on a regular basis in Yankee Stadium & the Polo grounds.

I think Tech also may have played one at the Polo Grounds in the same era.

Yes, indeedie. On Oct 29,1921 the Yellow Jackets lost to the Nittany Lions 28-7 @ the Polo Grounds in NYC.

Has a baseball game ever been played on the Flats?

(don't know what induced GT Ace to ask the Yankee Stadium question (he just hasn't been the same since the pop-up ball incident at RCS - perhaps the ball hit him on the head when he ducked), but since he brought up baseball, I'll continue the stream of conciousness)

ANSWER: YES INDEEDY!

It was the baseball field in the early days.

In fact, check out the left field extension from the West stands heading east being added in this image:

The east stands were built in '24, about the time of the above image, but as I recall from earlier research, there were some wooden stands on the east before that which were further back and angled out, as if built for baseball. They weren't very long. A tall wood fence extended from them northward.

There's a image of the stands and the fence in Dean G's collection, but I don't have time to search for it at the moment.

That makes sense if it was designed for playing baseball there too. Thanks for the info.

Also, GTimer, the west stands shown in this photo, which where built by the students in the Heisman era, are STILL THERE underneath the current west stands. If you use the restroom underneath the North end of the West stands you can see them thru the chain link fence. In the Mid 70's I had the chance to walk all the way down looking at the old bleachers. There are still numbers painted on them, or at least there was 25 years ago.

Yep, they were abandoned in place.

Somebody posted a while back that the track team used to practice run under there in inclement weather.
