Have any of the UGA fans you know already given up?

I've heard from some that are sure they are going to smash up. The option is so easy to stop.

I've heard from some who are sure they're going to lose. Injuries from that tough SEC schedule have them beat up by the time they get to us. We caught them at a good time.

I'm pretty sure the latter are just setting themselves up to gloat more if they do win.

What say you?

If they have given up on beating us than they are even dumber than I thought. I don't think you would find too many like that though.

There just giving themselves excuses for when we smash their balls with the 3option!

I received a phone call from a friend of mine who is a huge Dawg fan that I seriously haven't talked to in over 6 months. He just wanted to tell me that he saw the Miami game and now thought that GT would beat UGA. I told him that I sure hope so, but I wouldn't go betting the house on it. No real story here, I was just thinking what the hell was that about after I got off the phone. It just seemed like a dawger was trying to set his expectations lower and let me know that they were lower, so I couldn't enjoy the smack talking aftermath if indeed Tech does win.

Played tennis yesterday with my brother, the dawg fan (among others). The Clemson fan asked him if he was worried after Thursday. He admitted he was a lot more worried now than he was at the beginning of the season. He sees us running it up if their defense that played against Kentucky shows up.

Their preseason check list:
- Win SEC East X
- Win SEC Championship X
- Win MNC X

We're all they have left to shoot for. Last gasp for something positive to take from this season.

I sense that we are a bit cocky thinking we will beat UGA. This was the same attitude we had in 2006 when we were 9-2. This is going to be a very very tough game for us in all facets. UGA is #13 in the country for good reason. Their two losses are against the #1, and #2 teams int he country. All three of our losses are against unranked opponents. Its time to get some perspective. I am optimisitic but essentially, I'm not throwing the season down the drain if we lose this game. I hope to win it, but quite frankly, don't expect it.

If we turn the ball over, we are toast. If we go fumble free, we may have a chance to win. Its going to take a great effort on our parts. Especially against a team with two weeks to prepare for us. the last team that had that much time whipped us 28-7.

Its typical of GT fans for some reason to automatically think we are world beaters after an impressive win like the one against Miami. Somehow all of our past problems were somehow miraculously solved. They are still there.

Not to sound like Chicken Little, but no one needs to be hanging this season on this game. Let the players and coaches do that. they've already exceeded most everyone's expectations.

I completely disagree that this season is like 2006. In 2006, there was a very, very different attitude because we all sensed the climate change after the UNC game. The momentum and electricity was sucked out of the fanbase because the team showed no excitement in clinching the division.

That and we knew what we knew about our coaching staff and that nothing that we had accomplished so far meant we had any better of a chance to beat them then than we had before.

While your cautious sentiment may or may not be a good one, I don't see the comparisons between this and any season we've had since before Chan Gailey arrived. It's more than what just happened, it's the fact that this team is moving forward and upward, but we're not constantly concerned that the next game will be a giant leap backward.

+1 Completely agree. Am hopeful that we win, and want us to win so badly, but am also realistic as well.

Agreed. IMO this season has already been a tremedous success. I will be proud of this team and coaching staff no matter what the outcome this Saturday.

That being said, it would send us over the top if we could find a way to get it done this weekend.

BoR, why do you have to sober us up? :) You are right, like lowcountryJacket, I am extremely happy with this season already. And the fact that we have a chance saturday.

Jacket, you missed my point. I was in no way making a comparison between the team and coaches then as opposed to now. This team and coach are totally different on every level. I'm strictly talking about the fans.

I didn't have my hopes up in 2006 because Gailey was well, Gailey. But too many people went into the UGA 2006 game thinking we were going to win, and it crushed our season if we didn't. For that season it all came down to the UGA game. It didn't matter who you were. A fan of Gailey or not. Lose the UGA game and the season was a failure.

If we lose this game, its not going to crush our season nor should it crush our hopes like it did then. This has been a damn good year and people should understand that.

And you and I were not one of them, but there were several fans who went into the 2006 game thinking we were finally going to beat UGA. Then Gailey pulled a gailey and we lost sucking the life out of us. we go to the ACCCG and he did it again.
Ah, I see what you're saying and I agree.

I've only spoken to one UGA fan. In fact, I brought him to the Miami game, and he did wear white and cheer the Jackets.

Despite what happened on the field, he still thinks our offense is gimmicky, and still thinks UGA will win. He did inform me, though, that Florida ran some veer against UGA in their game, and it worked. He thinks that UGA will be better prepared to stop the veer vs Tech.

+1 Very good post.

I have, though, spoken to several UGAG fans who are very concerned in light of their last 3-4 games. Those were all away, and this one is at S&S with 2 weeks to prepare. We'll have our hands very full with the mutts this Saturday.

Depends totally on which teams show up. Both of us have had our Jekyll & Hyde moments this fall.
