Or are we still POed after laying awake all night pondering the "what ifs?"

Look at the bright side: BYU got it handed to them by Nevada. They could be ripe for a good spanking. Their defense is horrible from what I'm reading on their board.

Let's rally behind the players and coaches!!!

I'm in a GREAT mood!! My sister and mom are returning from Vladivostok, Russia today with a new family member. My sister has adopted a seven-month little girl we have named Elizabeth Naomi. They will be arriving Hartsfield around 3pm and we are just excited!!

GO JACKETS!!

Congrats, that's wonderful news!

Things generally are never as bad (or good) as they seem.

Bring on BYU!

Congrats! that really is GREAT NEWS!

My wife is from Ekaterinberg, Russia (couple days train ride from Vladivostok). She has been in country for 11 years.

If you ever need anything translated just let me know.

GREAT GREAT news! Congrats to your entire family and I'll say a little prayer for you guys.

As for the Jackets, we'll be back with a vengeance this Saturday at BDS!!

Congratulations to your sister and family, byteback. My cousin & his wife recently adopted young Russian twins.

They say they are not making any effort to maintain their Russian speaking ability, as they are trying to "Americanize" them as quickly as possible. I commented that being bilingual is a useful skill in many positions today. They said they were advised to not bring in adults speaking Russian, as the kids think its somebody coming to take them back. Interesting - would never have thought of that.

I'm not ready to talk about the game. Maybe tonight or tomorrow.

Absolutely fantastic Byte

We adopted 3 boys from Russia coming up on 3 years this christmas. We adopted older kids though - 4, 5 and 7 at the time. You should have little trouble assimilating a 7 month old - especially compared to the issues we have had (nothing really bad).

Your sister and Mom should have some real stories about travel in Russia. We stayed with locals and saw the way they live. Man am I glad I wasn't born there.

Email me if you or your sister have any questions I can help with.

And Goldtimer, it is really hard to get kids under about 10 to keep their native tounge active. Ours lost it in less than a year despite our efforts to give them Russian speakers to converse with. Mom speaks english and that is all they want to speak. Ours now sound like they are from south Alabama and we live in NC. Older kids we know (over 12 or so)do keep their ability to speak russian.

Enjoy your family's new baby girl. They are really special when they are young.

I rejoice with you and your family byteback. May
god richly bless the little one.

This thread puts life in perspective. Congrats to your family, Byte. Buy the white and gold dress to sit her on the campus to cheer the brave and bold.

It always brings to memory the phrase, "it is a small world", when I saw all the replies to your post and the other adopted children and wives (LawBee).

Glad to hear the good stories on Stingtalk.
