Heather Dinich article on Morgan Burnett

Against Virginia, Morgan was all over the field making tackles and covering passes. I wondered to myself during the game if Morgan was the only Defensive player that wanted to win. He is a star.

I hope he stays for four years, but I think he's too good to do that.

Morgan Burnett is our defensive MVP in my opinion. Michael Johnson is a beast, don't get me wrong, but Morgan Burnett is the leader in interceptions in all of college football. That is amazing. Plus, against UVA he was running around making tackles and wrapping up. It's splitting hairs trying to pick out our best defensive player because we have so many excellent defenders. But Morgan Burnett deserves more respect for all he has done this year.

You don't see that many Safeties going high in the draft, so you might be surprised.

As good as he is...and he is very good. I don't think he'll leave early. He is a heck of a player, but he lacks the measurables NFL teams look for. He doesn't run a 4.3 40 and he doesn't hit with a ton of bricks. He has intangibles bubbling out his a$$, but sometimes NFL teams just like freak athletes. He has one of the best noses for the football that I have ever seen. When you're watching the game you can always expect #1 in on or at least near the play.

I think he will make All American either this year or next.

He absolutely has the measurables to be a Free Safety in the NFL. On RamblinWreck he's listed as 6'1 198, now take a look at some of the high profile free safeties taken in the last few years...

Kenny Phillips: 6'2, 210
Michael Griffin: 6'0, 200
Reggie Nelson: 5'11, 200

He's plenty fast enough, so he's definitely going to be playing on Sundays. However, having said all that it isn't a guarantee that he will leave early. FS isn't really a position where you get selected in the top 10 too often, so there's just as good a probability that he'll stay for 4 years.

I really hope he stays for next year. He's one of the few excellent defenders that can provide some continuity under the new staff.

Yes, he can hit with a ton of bricks:

Also, he's a true sophomore.

After the ND game, we were standing around the team buses and he just came out beaming. He really seems like he enjoys the game and his experience. I'm proud that he's a Jacket.

I love Morgan Burnette and am not trying to talk bad about him by any means...but he didn't exactly level the guy in that clip.

I think he will be an exceptional pro and should go in the first 2 rounds, but I hope he isn't in a rush to get to the next level because it would be great for Tech if he stuck it out for 2 more.
