Jackson takes it home as the youngest winner.

But ultimately, his complete body of work prevailed: an ACC-record 51 total touchdowns, the only player in FBS history with 30 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns in a season, the only player in FBS history to go for more than 3,300 yards passing and 1,500 yards rushing in a season.

As one ACC head coach mused recently, "He's the best in the country. And it's not even close."

Can not believe how Ron Dayne & Lamar Jackson were dressed for such an occasion.

College students can't afford expensive suits. $86 is a lot of money for them.

Exactly. I don't know why Jackson was catching so much crap online for wearing a "cheap" suit.

So either Louisville doesn't have bagmen, or they didn't get the cash to Jackson in time.

Despite why people hate Ron Dayne, He didn't steal anything from Joe Hamilton. Our defense did. There was no way the Heisman in 1999 was going to a QB of an 8-4 team that lost to Wake Forest and UVA. Joe lost the Heisman because our defense was so terrible that they couldn't keep anyone under 40 points a game.

You're right, Dayne didn't steal it - Heisman voters did. JoeHam had an incredible season. Should not be punished for bad defense (otherwise, L Jackson should not have won this season).

Even without my white & old gold glasses on, it's clear that Dayne won the "career Heisman" award in 99.

My point is you can't make an argument for best player in CFB when your team has a pedestrian record. It was pedestrian because our defense was horrid.

Is the Heisman an individual award or a team award? Or a career award? There doesn't ever seem to be a consensus on it.

Joe deserved the award, but didn't get a fair shake because Ron Dwayne's career was great. Our team won 8 games because of Joe and despite our defense. Take him out of the equation and we may win 3 or 4 that year. Have a half-way decent defense and we could have put up another nice crystal trophy in the trophy room.

Football is a team sport, and wins and losses shouldn't have a damn thing to do with how good one particular person is. It most certainly wasn't Joe's fault that our defense sucked so bad.
