Saw this info (some new stuff) posted about the new pregame festivities at BDS.

Gonna be weird for almost everybody to walk past the stadium to get to the pregame. But I assume it’s necessary because of construction, and I don’t usually do much more than watch the band outside the stadium anyway.

I'm intrigued with the pregame concerts, might be a boon for recruiting. Both players and maybe some more fans.

The Block Party branding feels like it's trying to pull in / welcome others to join the festivities. Excited to see how it goes.

Interesting that nothing is, or has been, said about those parking in the Wardlaw deck. It doesn't apply to me, but somebody is parking there, and I assume they have big money, so I wonder what is being done to accommodate them?

I would assume that they could show a pass and get through the roadblock. That’s what I think happens on other parts of campus for football and basketball games.

Yeah my guess is they keep one westbound lane of N Ave open for traffic to the Wardlaw deck entrance with a guard at Techwood/N Ave intersection checking credentials.

There are also lots across the street nex to the alumni house that will be inaccessible. Getting to the Student Center lots will be very difficult traveling from the east side so hopefully they have notified those pass holders of the changes.

Wow this thread is going so smoothly without JJ coming here to douche it up. Nice going fellas. Keep discussing respectfully like y’all were doing.

Where is jj? Hanging out with crew?

They built a sorority and a fraternity closer to YJA and had no issues.

It concerns me that there is no mention of the marching band. Surely they’re going to incorporate one of the most visible pregame events outside the stadium into this block party?

I agree. The warmup at the campanile, Budweiser outside the library, the march down the hill and playing outside the stadium was the only time you ever felt any real enthusiasm for Georgia Tech outside the stadium pre-game other than the earlier team walk to the stadium. Our band does a great job and the marching band is an important part of college football. I know construction changes things. But, college football differs from pro sports in terms of fan entertainment. A stage for pregame entertainment fits the pro game. But, at the great venues of college football the band’s role is central - Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Auburn, USC, Alabama, LSU provide a few examples. I hope they can include the band significantly in the block party and when construction is completed the band march to the stadium will be a part of gameday.

Hope we don't cancel the band warm up at the Shaft - we tailgate across from there on the corner of the sidewalk. Great spot been there for years. Hearing the band and then the percussion section stay behind and does an extra set or two.

The band can still march down the hill to the quad area. There are steps there, too, and they can enter the stadium from the north as well. I think we'll be fine.

Just my $.02 worth.
This makes perfect sense. Just odd that it’s not mentioned anywhere in the description or timeline. There’s still time to coordinate it, of course.

Shouldn't be that bad, just go around the blockage.
