Found a site that I got down to 55 cents per shaker (good quality) and thought I would contribute maybe a couple hundred dollars to get them for the SWARM.....but would need some additional help.....so anyone out there willing to cough up some cash to get a white pom for every student for the Miami game? Let me know and I will organize but I really would love to have the students get into that game AFTER we SCALP the NOLES tomorrow....let me know your thoughts or otherwise...thanks!
GO JACKETS!

Thats a good idea...We should get D-rad on this asap! I've got a feeling the white out will end up looking bad because most people won't have a white sweatshirt or jacket, and this would at least give the appearence of a white out.

This is a last minute thing....and agree not everyone has a white jacket or hoodie....
but at least white shakers/poms will create an illusion....at least get them for all the students. Like I said, I will lay down a couple hundred bucks to buy them but we would need a couple thousand poms for the students I would imagine....and thanks!

Rumor has it there is a large donation of white t-shirts on the way to make sure everyone's covered.

Step 1: Contact Drad and see if we can set up a 50/50 venture or something like that...

Step 2: Collect pledges from people to pitch in, and see what DRad will do.

Step 3: Get drunk and shake white pom poms.

Me, I am in for $50.

If steps 1 - 3 fail, order a few hundred and sell/give them out.

Drad should buy some for the whole stadium if you ask me!

I (was) the large donor for the T-shirts but things didn't fall into place the way I thought they would...t-shirts for a night game in November in Atlanta probably won't work....we didn't have any night games of significance so the $150K cost on this wouldn't work for my company.
We'll leave it at that....
but sure would love to see a concentrated effort by GTAA and ISPsports to have the shakers for the fans....but just in case, that is why I would be willing to donate a couple hundred bucks to do my part at least for the students in the end zones....

I'll help.... keep us posted. I have heard groaning from some of my contemporaries about this white-out thing.

I am not one of those against it. I wish the fans always wore white. We can't get the gold right, and no one knows whether our accent color (not our official color!!!) is black or navy. Needless to say, white is the only one of our two colors that anyone can get correct.

White shows up well on TV. Gold/Yellow/Goldenrod/Canary/Mustard/WhatHaveYou doesn't.

Also, white reflects the hot sun, which is good during the early part of the season in my beloved upper east.

I digress... keep us posted.

Why don't we post some autobody guys outside the gates armed with automotive paint sprayers loaded with epoxy-based white paint. And put 'em under orders to double-coat anyone sporting UM garb.

That ought to put the white in white-out.

Even though most of us don"t have white winter clothing, we could put a white tshirt of somekind over our warm clothing. It may look stupid or nerdy, but it"s not that hard to do.

not a rumor. Beginning of the year I was told by head of promotions she was hooking up free white t-shirts. Unless it fell through, I actually do expect it

the problem is our cheap arse complaining fans wont' step up.

I pray to God that these are given to the alumni and general fans rather than the student section. Every time they try to do something like this, they give the things to the students, who are already wearing the correct color anyway. The students are not the problem. Give them to the alumni who show up not wearing white!

Actually, the students will get shirts, more specifically the swarm, they are always there, they pay EXTRA for those seats despite being a student, something tech alumn with jobs won't even do (PSLs).

However the AA won't have 50k shirts.

So unless you are lower bowl seats, I would invest in a cheap $2 plain white t-shirt to pull over a sweatshirt for the game. Notice I said invest, maybe the cheap ass tech alumn that dont' want to spend a dime will be tricked to think they are being wise with their money. :laugher::laugher:

seriously there is 1000 ways to sunday to wear white to this game and spend little to no money. Question is, will you/they do it? I will, and not only will I, I will buy cheap t-shirts to hand out to people who are too darn stubborn to buy one on their own. B/c I care, and want tech to appear to be a great atmosphere and place to play on TV.

I am in the SWARM, get there five+ hours before kickoff(today an exception, though I am leaving in about fifteen minutes), and we already got two shirts and guaranteed tickets and courtside basketball seats for a big $25 total. Trust me, go out and ask people in the SWARM, the ones who are there before the stadium opens, and they will all tell you they'd rather the alumni get them, because we all want to see the white out work and we all know that we're not the problem. Not that I don't love free stuff, but I'd love to see this thing go off smoothly, and I have a terrible feeling that it won't go off at all if a majority of the alumni are not provided with white shirts to wear.

if it matters, I am pres of the GT org that runs the swarm :) I know what is going on :)

we were trying to get a promotional donation for white shirts for general admission.....

Not trying to say you didn't, just trying to say that we all know we get a ridiculous amount of value already for our $25 and we don't need a white T-Shirt on white-out night to justify it, especially if in giving it up we could help the team in general. It sucks that you could get any promotional donation...maybe that will change in the coming years as we get more exposure. And with that, I am off.

Go Jackets!!

either way, if the word gets out enough, a true fan should be willing to sack up a few bucks and wear white t-shirt over a sweatshirt....not that hard

I question if we have true fans.

I'm heading for the gate here soon...gotta shower first though...I hope there's room in the front row for me :)
