Yeah, I had to check in and see what's up. Tore into it pretty good earlier I see. My eyes hurt.

A few morons are calling for firing Richt on my board, so it's not good anywhere. It is entertaining though. I've read more misspelled words tonight than I have in my whole life.

It isn't enjoyable kicking a Dog cowering in the corner. Talk some smack so we can have some fun.

I don't know. My son cannot bring himself to pull for ugag mostly because of the grief he catches at school, but I've been telling him that a victory over a no loss or 1 loss ugag team could possibly help us this year. All he can say now is that they're even screwing that up.

Actually, I can understand why uga fans would be concerned. It is not just a qb problem. Both lines are getting smoked and the defense looks slow and out of position.
I'm sure you'll get it figured out by Thanksgiving though.

Georgia's defense really looks a lot worse this year than last. Did you guys lose a coach or something?

Hang in there Jake. Y'all have too much talent and coaching for this to go on very long. It happens to everybody. But I feel for sure the Dawgs will get a real ass whipping turkey day weekend.

At least here there aren't pics to add insult to injury. I've seen some doozies on other boards along with misspelled words:laugher:

I actually think this year's UGA team is similar to the last couple of GT teams. Good defense, poor QB play, and a plodding mediocre offense - result is that you can lose to anyone and every game is a struggle and look out if the defense has a bad game.

The fire Richt stuff is stupid. He's won 2 SEC titles in 5 years. Now questioning if he needs help with offensive and defensive coordinating is understandable. The QB play has not been good, but the QBs haven't been making too many mistakes either. Dropped balls have been a huge problem and have contributed to INTs. No reciever has stepped up as dependable or as a playmaker. Remember all of those "stars" they had? Well, aparently the left them in high school or aren't being coached up by the recievers coach. I don't know.
The defense is not good anywhere besides the DEs. I do wonder what happened to all of the talent? Maybe it's not being put in position to thrive nor being motivated properly by D-Coord. Martinez.
It's been a mess to watch all season. The loss to Vandy is not suprising considering the body of work so far this season. I'm sure the teenage bandwagoneers are jumping off UGA and onto GT, which may sound impossible, but it happens.
I thought losing Brian Van Gorder would have an impact, but it wasn't revealed until the Sugar Bowl last year against WVU. Good coordinators obviously make a huge difference.
This UGA team appears to be playing unmotivated. Now that the season is pretty much over, I think Stafford will be playing from here on out to get prepared for the next few seasons.

Wasn't Martinez there last year too, though? UGA's defense was outstanding last year, and really carried them IMO. How many starters did you guys lose?

Agreed on both counts. Everyone who watches the UGA program knew this was going to happen sooner or later, this year. We will see many sidewalkers hopping on the GT wagon, but again, that's expected given the current turn of events.

UGA's current situation, and Tech's situation in the first and second years after losing Fridge, have me wondering whether or not the impact of losing a coordnator is often delayed a year, when the players taught by the previous guy graduate. What do you 5 think?

Cut that "you 5" crap out, this is stingtalk, not the hive :laugher:.

I like the theory about the coord loss taking a year.

As for the Mutts, I really can't see whats going on with their recievers, those kids obviously have some major talent but they all seem to be dropping balls like its their job this year. That Massaqui guy, who just really bothers me for some reason... is not only fast, but I've seen him pull down rockets. I gotta think its a confidence issue, or something going wrong in practice. Saw the same thing with their TE too.

This dawg is one tough and level-headed fellow by coming over here after Vandy.Must be therapy for him..
btw-Goldmember nailed it.we know how he feels.

It says something about expectations when a coach who has won 3 conference championships in 5 years is on the hotseat after two losses in a season. If Richt had won no more than 7 games every year, would he still be there at all?

Actually he's only won 2 titles, not 3.

If he won 7/yr it would depend on the team he took over. Probably wouldn't have lasted more than 3-4 years though.

The interesting thing is that there are some major holes showing up at UGA now that the team is entirely made up of Richt's players. He was fortunate to take over the team that he did, but it looks like they are reverting back to their old ways. Greene was the right qb for that team, Shockley had lots of talent, but the inexperienced qb's cannot lead that team.

Now that Thomas Brown has a torn ACL, they are really screwed. They are well on their way to losing at least 3 more games (UF, AU, GT), and if that happens Richt will seriously be on the hot seat.

I think UGA's woes this year, and Tech's previous woes, are both very clear examples that good QBs don't grow on trees, that there is no magic forumula for turning a bad QB into a good QB, and that good QB play is paramount for the success of football programs in general.

Yeah, Martinez was the DC last year as well. He was Van Gorder's secondary coach. This year's UGA defense looks a lot like last year's except for the secondary. Paul Oliver was primarily a nickleback last year with Jennings and Minter at the corners and Blue at safety. The abilities of J&M allowed Blue to run wild and get away with it most of the time.
This season, the secondary as a group is weak in comparison to seasons past. Tra Battle is not near the safety UGA has been fielding since 1999: Jermaine Phillips, Sean Jones, Thomas Davis, and Greg Blue. This shows in the games.
Linebackers can't blitz because they are helping the secondary and linebackers can't cover recievers for long. Against bad teams, UGA's athleticism is good enough to be a good defense, but average to good teams aren't being stopped.
And these are just some of the problems on defense.
There isn't a leader on defense nor a talented leader on offense. This week's game with Miss St. will also be close and not decided until late in the 4th quarter.
