here is a link to CG's contract.....

At a quick glance, CG's guaranteed income (base + 'other income' which is ISP, etc.) is 41st among all Div. 1A coaches...not including the schools that do not make their numbers public. In terms of how much extra he can earn in bonus money....he is 42nd.

I think he'll survive on that revenue. I noticed he gets free medical insurance as well as TWO cars.

What is funny is he gets a bonus for beating UGA.

So, before bonuses and benefits, in 2006 Chan makes:

Salary: 437,582
TV: 371,609
Tharpe Fund appearances: 200,000

That's also not including the 478,000 he is receiving from outside the athletic department.

No the bonus for the ugag game is for assistants, not Chan.

You are correct!! The bonus itself is what's funny. The recipient didn'y matter. I sure hope GT has to hand out a lot of bonuses for the duration of this contract.

It looks like he'll get a big bonus if we win in Jacksonville, adding up the bonuses for winning a conf. championship and playing in a BCS bowl game.

Also, on the page 6, number 4, what exactly is a pre-season bowl game? Is that like what we played against BC some years ago?

my point was not survival...you can survive off $20K per year.

I was simply pointing out that within his industry...and within that competitive landscape...41 teams pay their head coach more...including Central Florida's pay to O'Leary although only marginally more. CG also has a better record over the past 5 years than the majority of those 41 coaches.

Yeah, that includes things like the "kick-off classic" which the NCAA has pretty much killed.
