First of all, I am grateful to CPJ for the wonderful seasons and victories we've had during his tenure. If he decides to coach 2-3 more years, I hope GT goes ahead and gets the next HC on staff like FSU did the last 2 years of Bobby Bowden's tenure. The only way to do that is to probably hire someone who is currently a coordinator. This way recruits know who they will be playing for and what kind of system we will be running when the new guy takes over.

It won’t be an offensive coach - unless we intend to continue running the option.

And, frankly, I don’t see CPJ being able to co-exist with his replacement.

We would run the option the last few years of CPJ's tenure but when the new guy takes over he runs his offense. This way the new coach can be telling kids what kind of offense & defense we'll be running. Also, if I remember correctly Bobby Bowden wasn't too fond of the set up but there is an alternative.....resign which means no payout.

If we hire another option coach whenever CPJ’s time is done, there will be a ton of fans who take a hiatus from Tech football and may not come back. It is that bad right now.

how many people took a hiatus after suffering an eternity with Gailey's "pro style" offense? in a down year, Johnson's wins easily match Gailey's best years..

Gaily was 0 for georgia. Johnson comes in and beat's georgia with HIS offense and gailey's players.. all this whining about the offense is delusional.

Are you saying our 3 win Johnson season matches any of the Gailey years?

If we hire a TO coach, he’s a head coach right now and won’t take a role as CPJ’s OC. If we hire a non-TO OC to take over, he won’t run the TO for two years while waiting for his shot to run a different offense. It would have to be a DC. I can’t see a Current DC wed hire as head coach other than Venables, who could be a HC today at a dozen schools.

We need someone desperate to coach who might be willing to be flexible to get his shot. Just a shot in the dark, but maybe Art Briles?

I’ve never thought gaily was as good as Coach Johnson. But there was a time when the option as fridge ran it attracted the likes of Joe Hamilton. It seems we at least a quarterback who can pass as good as Justin Thomas.

I think I would be open to a modern version of the option that adds RPOs, shotgun/pistol formations (that allow RBs to read and choose a hole rather than run to a designated one), and needs a QB who can throw more than an unguided scud missile.

i like Kingsbury but ............. I think UNC and even UGA to an extent hired coaches they knew would being in the most money from alumni. Seems money is the most important thing these days. What coach could Tech hire would bring in the most money? And don't say Saban.

Might be Kiffin

Amen brother, in fact I started my hiatus this season. All though I did watch the games on tv, I really didn't miss actually being at the games. Funny how that worked out.
