Here's a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

Excellent posts by Nate.

Nate was one of my favorite defensive players ever at Tech. I loved his hard-nosed, kick you in the teeth attitude...that's something that none of our guys have anymore.

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

THIS IS FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT CAN'T ACCESS THE HIVE...

1) This was the worst loss in the history of this series.

2) 2 years ago we led 27-3 at the half, this year we were losing 34-0 at the half

3) 2 years ago we had a different coach as did Georgia

4) Coach Gailey said Players quit and there are some character issues in the post game press conference. It was a very poorly played game in all phases," Tech coach Chan Gailey said

5) GOL never got blown out buy UGA.

6) Bill Lewis never got beat this bad by UGA

7) Players made quotes in the paper about getting beat up and down the field.

WE HAD A WEEK OFF AND WEREN'T prepared to play against Georgia= "I obviously didn't get these guys ready to play," said Tech's first-year coach

9) The current head coach commented recently he started watching UGA film in February

10) Where's the discipline? "We just weren't playing disciplined as a whole."

11) ALot of injuries this yearfor the jackets and we got whipped up front by UGA 2 years in a row...DID they sign a bunch of stud recruits that were rtue freshmen in 2001?......UGA got a new strength coach when richt was hired, the guy from FSU, we got a new strength coach prior to the 2001 season, the first season we would lose to UGA since 1997...."We loved it," said guard Kevin Breedlove. "It was clear early in the game that we were going to be able to move the ball on the ground." When both lines dominate, as Georgia's did Saturday night, the game is rarely close.

I guess I take this part real serious because I played in the trenches in this game in 1998 and yeah it is personal.

12) Quote of the day

"What can you say?" Suggs said. "We got our butts beat up and down the field."
I am glad I never said had to say that, how embarassing!
-----------------------------------------------------

HELLO HELLO HELLO-- ANYONE HOME????? This is only the biggest game of the year.....
THIS IS THE *censored* GEORGIA GAME AND WE CAME OUT UNPREPARED? PLAYERS QUIT IN THE UGA GAME??? THEY SHOULD NEVER PLAY IN ANOTHER GAME FOR GT.

ALOT OF YOU ARE SUGAR COATING THIS LOSS....PRESSURE MAKES DIAMONDS!!!!! Some people need to feel some pressure

Dont get me wrong, the players had more to do with this loss than the coaches, but the buck stops with the head coach...bottom line

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

nate, i agree with you. our football program is in dire need of someone with fire in the belly, chan is not that someone. i would like to start a thread to ask chan to resign, would you join that thread.

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

Nate was one among many ex-players who have not liked what they have seen this year. I can't mention names in this post but I am close to many from the 80's. One is my daughter's Godfather! These guys didn't have the luxury of winning times like the 90's with O'Leary, but they all recognized through the course of this year that we had taken many steps back with this Coach and what he brought here.

We all sat together on Saturday and they were concerned for the program as a whole and its immediate future. But this is not something we talked about just on Saturday, every game was a disection of what was not good, even the wins. I have to tell you something they all agreed with ... nothing will occur for change unless big time money contributors speak out over this!

These guys who didn't have the winning ways like the O'Leary years will all tell you, it's been a positive in their lives to see the turnaround for their Alma Mater in the football program! They didn't accomplish what some of our most current players did, but the rejoice in the times and are proud to say their Yellow Jackets!

Many of us were shocked at what we saw but to a man they all said it starts with the Head Coach!

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

I'd have to say that the editorial was right on the money. Being a Tech fan or player, you have to be ready to play against your biggest rival.

Watching the game with friends, we'd never seen anything like the display put forth in front of a NATIONAL TV audience.

When all was said and done, there was nothing that we saw in that game that remotely points in the direction of optimism for next season.

Say what you will about GOL, but what we witnessed Saturday would never have happened with him at the helm. He'd have pulled the entire first team off the field and replaced them with guys that wanted to play.

As much as I don't want to admit it, we're headed south whereas our enemy to the east is where we'd like to be. Coincidence, luck or something else..... it's not a good time to be a GT football fan right now....though I always will be.

GO JACKETS!!

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

Way to go Nate! My pre-Georgia post asked for some Stimson like play and predicted an ass-whipping if we didn't go to fight. We didn't and you see what happened.

This all started with a lack of discipline and will end with a lack of discipline. All this new facial hair, dreadlocks, double-earings and lack of conditioning was evident starting the Clemson game and never let up.

I've seen alot of Tech teams, and alot of em lost to Georgia, but I can't say as I've ever seen one throw in the towel like this one. Wish Nate, Phillipe Claybrooks and some of the others who hated Georgia could have had a word with this bunch before they rewrote the history book.

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

I see absolutely nothing in this thread that everyone did not already know. What is new here? Nothing.

It is obvious there were problems last year. It has been hashed and rehashed and nothing has changed. The UGA and Fresno State games were disasters. Anything new here?

We have still not determined where the fault lies. If you reaon with the season, you know the morale was not good and then the seniors had a meeting prior to the Virginia game. The seniors got the team together and they played as a team and beat both Virginia and NCSU in consecutive weeks.

Then things went downhill again and the morale with it. What was the cause of the morale going down. I firmly believe it was the quarterback play and ineptness of the offense.

Whose fault was that? Was it BOB. Was it Gailey? Here we are again at the point where it gets muddled. It could have been Gailey's fault, it could have been BOB's fault.

Changes have been made in the staff. Now it can be deterimined where the fault lay. Maybe some are afraid Gailey will succeed without BOB. Maybe some are just concerned and looking for an answer.

The above thread is an indictment against last years team, but it does not prove whether the problems were with BOB or Gailey.

By the way, welcome back BeeWare, you are a hero right now, so enjoy it.

I got the message that the post had been deleted. I guess the admins. at the Hive didn't like it so they did their thing.

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

Its an old post guys so it probably has rolled off the board. I must say, it looks bad for CG, he just hasn't been up to speed enough to keep all the balls in the air. Whether you talk about team morale, academic discipline, higher standards, or play calling, the head man has to bear some responsibility.

If I was CG and I was getting screwed over on higher standards from the hill, NCAA regs, or DB's jerking support staff around, I would have been raising hell and at least hinting at my discomfort in press conferences and the like. Its called managing expectations and he hasn't done anything to alert anyone to issues that needed consideration.

He was either oblivious to everything going on around him, or he knew bad things were happening and just kept his mouth shut. Either way its not a pretty picture. If I were him I would bow out gracefully (negotiate to step aside for some bucks) and get out of dodge. Having said all that, I tend to believe that this is a bigger systemic issue and someone else really bears most of the responsibility (DB).

Time for an enema...

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

I know that something is dreadfully wrong. I don't know the source of all the problems but I have my opinions. I feel like throwing up. What bothers me and a Gaggle of other Tech people is that when we have a crisis The Vermin run for the dark holes. I was raised on a huge farm and I was required to milk the cows early in the morning before daylight and I would bring along a lantern
with me and I recall when I would step inside the barn where the cows were in stalls that when the light shone around the rats and cockroaches ran for the darkness but the light would cause the little birds in the rafters to start chirping. The bird were creatures of light whereas the rats and cockroaches are creatures of darkness. We can tell which category our AA leaders belong to by the way they conduct themselves. They seek the dark holes and hope the hurricane will blow itself out. We need someone in the AA that will communicate with us.

Re: Here\'s a blistering editorial by Nate Stimson

Big Buck, I like your description of the barn.

We were all blinded by CCG's resume and perhaps DB's too.
