Here\'s a Conf. expansion plan that would work for GT
OK. We have added Miami and Va. Tech...two very tough customers. We might pick up Notre Dame...another big boy. How can schools like Duke, Wake, and Ga. Tech keep their heads above water in this constantly improving conference?
.
The ACC should do what the SEC and other conferences did years ago when only 5 or 6 conference foes were scheduled a year. the others rotated in and out on a yearly basis to assure that everyone eventually played everyone in the conference. Instead of playing all the head-knockers every year, you would only be playing 1 or 2. That would free up the schedule for weaker teams to schedule weaker out-of-conference opponents.
.
Tech could play 6 conference games, the Georgia game, and pick 4 or 5 other opponents of their liking. The competition could improve as the team improved year after year, or visa versa.
.
The thought of a schedule that could possibly include UGA, FSU, Miami, Clemson,Va. Tech, AND Notre Dame each and every year is program suicide. Tech is already staggering to keep its feet in the existing conference configuration, no need to give it the knock out punch for years and years.
