Funny... Spurrier "sucker-punched" UGA by saying he'd send a player in to start a fight & Herschel said he was against it becuase "someone could have gotten hurt"....Do you not see the danger for the guy at the bottom of a dog pile when you add up all the weight of the players on top....Anyway other funny part is that "another round of hugs from Herschel to Knowshon had to wait" Well Herschel you might want to first introduce yourself to Knowshon b/c he didn't
know who you were when asked by the media (that still baffles me....same position same school & a icon at UGA and Knowshon didn't "know" him)...:laugher:

Anyway none of it is really related to GT football just thought it was ironic...coach Richt broke the rules of the game and inspires everyone...Spurrier said he would break the rules by enticing a fight and Richt's plan would have back fired on him... & Herschel wants to fight him.Telling him to "man up"..guess that would be okay as long as Herschel didn't "hurt him".
Herschel takes Spurrier’s bait

Another round of hugs from Herschel to Knowshon had to wait. First, Mr. Walker, as in “He’s running over people!” and as in the most passionate former Georgia player you’ll ever meet, had to get something off his considerable chest.
It involved Walker’s version of Steve Spurrier sucker-punching everybody in the Bulldog Nation. “Did you hear about this?” Walker said over the phone, still smoldering over Spurrier’s critique of the entire Georgia team rushing onto the field en masse last month in Jacksonville. To the dismay of Spurrier and those into professionalism, coach Mark Richt ordered his Bulldogs to get an unsportsmanlike-conduct penalty while celebrating their first touchdown during what became a victory over Spurrier’s old Florida team.
Anyway, Spurrier took a break from his current role as South Carolina coach to become as equally unprofessional. He said he would have sent one of his third-stringers into that Dog pile to create a fight. As a result, Spurrier said the Gators would have prospered in the long run since the SEC would have delivered a slew of suspensions to Georgia players.
“Well, you know, is that not insulting? That’s totally insulting for a coach of his stature to say something so stupid,” said Walker, getting angrier by the syllable. “So my question I say to him is, if he’s got that much guts, why don’t he step in a ring against me? You don’t say something that silly, because you’re going to get somebody hurt. Georgia was punished, because that’s a penalty. They didn’t go out to hurt anyone. [Spurrier] talks about hurting somebody. How much guts do you have? Step in a ring with me, and then we’ll see.”

I think I might pay the $50 to watch that one. What kind of shape is ol' Herschel in these days?

:laugher:

Granted, we have starbury so we can't throw too many stones.

In Herschel's defense, it is amaizng how utterly dumb he sounded as a frosh in college and how well spoken he is for the most part these days. He did receive an education at UGA and became a lifelong learner which is admirable.

I'd counter him with a reading contest.

Herschel ain't all that bright. He assumed that Spurrier's intention with picking a fight was to hurt someone. Spurrier only wants to stir the pot- not hurt anyone. Herschel's a functional moron.

Your last sentence contradicts itself....
a UGA degree = education

Saw Herschel about a year ago at a meeting with Dr. James Andrews, the big kahuna orthopedic surgeon from Birmingham AL. He's still absolutely ripped (due, as he noted, to the 2,500 situps and 1,500 pushups that he still does daily!), and was bright and funny.

I remember his early Dawg days when he was a walking talking disaster when it came to personal expression, and I laughed as much as any of us when it seemed like he needed subtitles for anything over two words strung together, but he's not that person anymore.

I didn't say he got a degree; did he? but he did get an education and uses it today. I did laugh at tknox because Herschel was basically illiterate when he arrived at Ugag but a few years later he was understandable. He has a great work ethic in all areas of his life.
