Please elaborate...

did your son get a football scholarship to Uga? If so congratulations to you and him. You must be proud. If I have misunderstood your post please explain.

Re: Please elaborate...

Heavens no. He wanted to walk-on at Tech but didn't get in. So now he's just partying at UGA.

Re: Please elaborate...

Well at least advice him not to get some sort of worthless basketweaving degree that lacks marketability, tell him to stay away from "Leisure studies" and "communications".

Re: Please elaborate...

Naw, he's focused on being a real estate millionaire in come coastal area. Nathan Burton has told him he could play but you know how it goes, the coaches have to save the preferred walk-ons for favors...

I doubt very few know how it goes.

Please explain a little more about this quote...

Re: Please elaborate...

this comment does require some explaining---if you have some insight as to how scholarship candidates are evaluated other than--athletic skills, academic acumen, and desire to play at tech---i'd like to hear it.

Re: Please elaborate...

you mean like when a certain freshman coach in the early 70s gave one of his neighbor's kids a scholarship? Or saintly Bobby Dodd giving Furman Bisher's son a scholarship when he didn't even play?

Those things happened long ago, however I wouldn't be surprised that it goes on today.

This would have in the days of unlimited scholarships, I believe.

Yep those were some days I'm told, teams would scoop up every talented recruit in the region leaving the competition with almost no good players. That's how Oklahoma got their historic winning streak (of 40+ games if I'm not mistaken).

Re: Please elaborate...

Same for Alabama. The art of recruiting was as much keeping players away from your competition. Evidently it also included sons of sportswriters!
