First, hello to everyone. I am new and this is my first post. However, I am graduate and a long time Tech football fan.

I recently saw where FSU is predicted to win the ACC, and where UNC was considered the 'dark horse' to win it. My question is.... why would UNC be the dark horse and not GA Tech? UNC was selected because of the return of their starting QB, but geez, doesn't Tech have a ton of returning talent? Is this realistic, or is this another example of the sports media giving Tech football little credit?

Glad to have you aboard and post often. I think the reason GT is being lowballed is b/c we have a new coach and a new QB/RB.

I think most everyone is glad to be the underdog after last years disappointing season where we seemed to underperform at almost every opportunity.

When the nat'l writers and rags that will be coming out shortly make predictions, they are only looking at the surface. They look at GT and see: new headcoach, new QB replacing very good one, new starting RB and losing one of the better receivers in school history. Then, they conclude that a middle of the pack finish is about right.

They look at UNC who has more question marks than we do, but finished last season better and have a coach that is being talked about for scheduling touch OOC and instilling a new attitude into a bball school and call them a darkhorse.

Most of the nat'l writers take a cue from the regional/local journalists as well and they are not that high on us either. Again, most have not looked at the number of players off of the 2 deep that are back. No worries, though; GT does better as the underdog as opposed to being a favorite--let's hope the trend continues for 2002!

The ACC and National Media has put out some negative press on GT, but this, imo, is a good thing because recent history gives us more fire and we do better, ie, 1998, 2000

GT 98 has some good points and I would agree with his thoughts pretty much right down the line on this topic. Now, as for the other topics, GT 98 has been known to hit the crack pipe a few times before posting
