Highlights from Scrimmage

I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but you DO know that the coaches have repeatedly asked fans NOT to take video footage at practice, right?

From the sounds of it, they are closing practice after this week and one of the reasons is that was given was that video and discussions involving formations and schemes are being put out on the internet for opposing teams to pick up and review. I personally love the videos and practice reports, but I also don't want to give our opponents an advantage against our O, whether it is a real advantage or perceived.

And before you jump down my throat, I know the video linked above is not one of those videos in question. It would be hard to determine the formation or even the personnel from the linked video.
 
I'm pretty sure this video is put out by the football video deparment. Although it does seem like a video that was not official got out.
 
Whoever filmed that video was obviously on the sidelines...so it was probably Liam Klein, the director of player personnel.
 
I'm not personally surprised. Our biggest advantage for this year is the element of surprise. As the season progresses, teams will have more footage to work on. No need to speed up that process.

I expect we'll still be able to get some practice reports from Meet the Machine and 33Jacket. They just won't include information about our formations.

Yeah, I was able to tell from that video that we'd be running the flexbone, that we'd pitch it sometimes, and that we occasionally pass.

If that ever got leaked out, we'd be at a serious disadvantage.

However, I have seen video (or maybe pictures) on another site which DOES show formation and personnel.

As for the announcement about closing practices, I have not seen anything official, but I have spoken with a friend in th AA and he indicated that it would start next Monday. I hope he is wrong, because I love taking my kids to BDS on Saturdays to watch the scrimmages.

I agree that GT has usually closed practices around this time (start of school), but Paul Johnson has historically run open practices.

Other notes from the video:

Sometimes our QB is white and sometimes he is black.

Our Defense sometimes dominates and sometimes gives up big plays.

Our D is good at recovering fumbles.

Are you sure this isn't from last years practice?
