For someone in the know;
Last year was a great year in recruiting as we finished 18th, according to Rivals.
Question: Was 18th the highest, if not, what is the highest that GT has ever finished in recruiting?

I would say in the Bill Lewis era ironically and no I don't know the ranking.

Bill Lewis era never had a top 20 class.

Oleary has one that was very close to top 15 and 2 or 3 in the top 25. Last years class was arguable the best class we have ever had and Oleary's class would be the argument. I believe last years class was hands down the best.

recruiting rankings were not nearly as hot a topic when Oleary first came here, really, it has gone over the top. that being said, i would agree that last years class was the highest ranked, but i would also say that i think their ranking will only go up based on play on the field if you discount the loss of transfers. i think gailey really was an excellent evaluator of personnel. i think coach BJM is also excellent at this as Giff must be also. CPJ has done excellent with his picks with a very limited pool also, so i am damn excited!

There is no clear answer to your question as recruiting rankings didn't really take place until the late 90's. The classes of the late 80's and 1991 in particular were pretty awesome.

The classes that Dodd had in the 50's must have been pretty awesome. Sean Jones class would probably been pretty high after the fact.

Class of '75 was incredible, but you didn't have parasites around back then trying to outguess coaches on who was worth signing.
