I've seen it asked a couple of times but don't think I've seen it answered since the new roster updates - how many can we sign this year (I know it's an approximation based on many factors)?

It looks like an overall strong class with a good bit of interest in GT - it'd be nice to bring in as many as possible.

anywhere from 17-19, depending on our roster space on September 2nd. Also, because of the possibility of recruits enrolling in January, this allows more to be signed for enrollment in Fall of 2007. I expect that we sign 18 or 19.

From a previous post:
There is a very long answer to this, but right now we have 73 on scholly (not including the kids we give scholarships for one year when we have some leftover...and yes all are technically one year each) and 10 graduating seniors on scholarship. That would mean 16 spots.

However, based on future attrition and some possible rule interpretations, we will likely end up between 17 and 20.

Enrolling early does not change anything. The number is 79 no matter when they enroll.

Really the only thing that helps is players graduating/leaving the program early. Until we go back to 85(GEEZE!! When did I ever think I would say that said about GT?) it doesn't matter when they enroll except for being able to be there for spring practice.

How many OLs are we looking to pick up with Parker lost to injury and Cox gone from the team?

Do you know if GT is still at or near the top of Claytor's favorites as we were back in March or April?
He seems to be getting romanced by a lot of schools now.

Yes, Claytor is favoring GT, Auburn, and Ohio State. Expect his college destination to be one of those three schools.

I'm not panther, but the word I hear is that our coaches believe that Claytor is coming to the Notre Dame game. They seem to think if we pull off the big upset that the festive night atmosphere of that game might be enough to make him pull the trigger and commit either that night or soon thereafter. He is one of several recruits who plan to be at that game.

Better yet, Claytor and Walls are coming to the GT camp together on July 15. Maybe something special can come out of that. They talk all of the time and are both also looking at Auburn...as is Jonathan Dwyer. It is not at all unimaginable to have all three of them go to Auburn together as well. I still like our chances to get all three...plus R.Jones, Tucker, and Baker...all this summer! It is not inconceivable that Donley and Everson commit this summer as well.

An interesting visit to watch at the camp on July 15 is Jacoby Monroe. Can we really impress and make up huge ground on his first love, FSU, that weekend? Could he be our next Darryl Richard? I guess I am getting greedy now!

Definitely possible to land those other 8 before we play Notre Dame bringing us to 14 commitments. There also could be another offer or so to go out during this time that could lead to a commitment.
