Holding call on Clemson with about 3

whatever no excuses. tech had a bogus "makeup" holding call on them...but what happened? nesbitt and bey bey manned up and made a play!!!!!!! they got the first down and don't need excuses. that was one of the biggest plays of the game. i believe it was third and 13 and we got the first and the drive ended with a game winning field goal. it took some guts to call that, and it took some guts to have the confidence to throw that when you had only completed like 2 passes all damn game. big props to the offense towards the end of game. well played!

one play that was complete bs was the late hit call that ended with a td for clemson. thats what everyone should be talking about. the refs make bad calls. thats a given.

You can always say w/o this one, w/o that one. Clemson doesn't score their second TD with that BS late hit penalty tackling the guy as he's going out of bounds.

minutes left. They completed a pass to inside our 10 yrd line and were called for what appeared to be a bad holding call. Without that call I don't believe we win the game.
That was a bad call, as was that call on Morgan Burnett out of bounds, when you are driving somebody out of bounds you cant stop on a dime.

Bad call, good call. Bad play call, good play call. Bad execution, good execution. All of these are elements of the game that every single team is affected by in every single game. Bad ones of all of these seem magnified near the end of a game or near the end of a season simply because there's less time to overcome them.

My point is simply that good and bad things happen to both teams during a game, some of which are under the control of the coaches, some of which are under the control of the players, and some of which are under the control of the officials. They are all part of the game and are part of who wins and who loses in every game.

But I do understand folks being upset about a perceived mistaken call that happened late in the game that "nullified" a good play. None of what I said suggests people shouldn't be upset. I'm only suggesting that blaming one call doesn't capture everything else that went into the result of the game. And yes, I've been guilty of blaming a late call that I felt was mistaken for a loss the Jackets (and any other team I've ever rooted for) endured and I probably will be again ;)

Clemson got their fair share of BS calls, and as coach always says-Dont put yourself in the position to where ONE bad call could effect your game. Clemson did.:p

I think it's funny that our fans are quick to snap on each other for claiming that we got screwed by a questionable penalty.

But when we benefit from one, we don't hesitate to go on about how we wouldn't have survived without it.

The holding flag that was thrown before the ball left the QBs hand and before the ball was caught down field wasn't made with malice to negate a big Clemson play, that's just football. They cheated and were caught.

Clemson fans can "if" all they want to ... and so can I. If they hadn't held our man on that play they never would have gotten the pass off. They would have fumbled the ball as our DL crushed the QB and we would have recovered the ball, maybe even ran it in for a touchdown. Yeah, that's what would have happened "if".

They had a BS late-hit call on us and a phantom holding call, both of which were blatantly worse than the holding call on them.

The holding call on Clemson was a bad call or the refs just said the wrong number of the player who held. That being said, there were plenty of bad calls that went in Clemson's favor. They've been mentioned in this thread, and they helped Clemson gain momentum. PJ was chewing the refs up and down for all the holding calls they were missing, and I guess his prodding finally got us a call. You can call that luck, coaching, whatever. If all the calls are made correctly, we win by a lot more points.

On another note, the bad calls on us vs. VT last year cost us the game, the ACC Championship and a trip to the Orange Bowl. ACC refs suck.

I'm not so sure it was a bad call. In the Michigan-ND game they went to some lengths to talk about a play that was almost exactly the same...stating that if an OL grabs, turns and throws a DL down it's holding by definition and will be called. Looked like that's pretty much what happened on that play.

If a ref sees a jersey grab, 9 times out of 10 they'll call it. Problem is they don't, and really can't, see it most of the time.

if clemson hadn't **** the bed in the first...they would've blown us out for sure.....mmmm hmmm

notice that's a big if.

No sir I don't see no if there.
mmhmm I think you need to enlarge that some so that those of us with weaker vision can properly focus on that word.
