Where do you think he goes? Do you believe any of the rumors or information out there?
I think Oakland would be crazy to pass on him - I believe in best available player and the consensus is Calvin. Oakland is not going to win this year - with Calvin, with Jamarcus, with anyone. They should take Calvin and suffer through a mediocre season with a veteran QB (Trent Green & Daunte Culpepper are both rumored to be available). They also have 1st pick of the 2nd round so they could take one of the 2nd tier QBs (Jordan Beck-BYU or Trent Edwards-Stanford) as a project QB. I don't see how the Jamarcus Russell option is significantly better than the one I've described above. However, if they take Russell...
Detroit will find themselves in a similar position - "Should we take another WR, a 4th 1st rounder in 6 years, even though this one is the most 'sure thing' of the bunch?". They'll have the additional option of trading down to teams like Tampa, Atlanta, Washington (and possibly others - those 3 have the most to offer in terms of additional draft picks this year & within reasonable position to swap 1st picks). I think the Atlanta rumor is just that - Blank joined into the draft misinformation game to overvalue CJ in an attempt to get Tampa to move up 2 spots and burn those other important draft picks. The most recent expert mock drafts seem to favor Calvin picked here but most are unclear which hat he'll be sporting when gets to the podium. Unlike Scott (over at the GT Sports Blog), I think if Detroit selects him their intent will be to keep him (not look for suitors after the selection) - that's just not the way it works in the NFL draft. Based on Detroit's success with Charles Rogers (injuries) and Mike Williams (likely bust), I'll go out on a limb and say the Lions draft Calvin and keep him...
IF he makes it by the 2nd pick, then I think the Browns also bypass him (for Peterson) and he falls to Tampa who will be pushing Peterson (or Quinn) off of the podium to get their selection in.
