How bad did the Georgia loss hurt last year?

Just gauging everyone's opinion on this. Personally, it wasn't as painful as I expected right after the game. Disturbing? Yes. But not crushing like in years past.

I don't know if it was because of being burnt out after all those close losses last year, or because we had the taste of winning the 3 previous years. Part of it was because they flat out pasted us (face it, they could've scored 50 on us if they were able to finish drives). If a loss happens, I say let it be a blowout and not let it be ripped out of our hands at the end. I still have nightmares about Bobo's fade to the endzone in '97 and Kanon Parkman's knuckleball FG in '95. Last year's loss is more puzzling because I felt like we didn't even show up to play.

I was disappointed, sure. But after the redneck co-workers ribbed me for a day or so, we all went about normal business.

Last year was a disappointment, coming in with a decent ranking and losing to Clemson, MD, the snobs, all pretty close games, and the obvious turmoil on the team with O'Leary having "lost" the players.

When YJA occurred on the UGAg game, the fans were fired up. But when the players got off the bus, we could see in their eyes they were "just showing up." When the game started, it was clear which team showed up.

I will disagree that I prefer to get blown out rather than a close loss. A blowout loss would set our program back years. A close loss or a victory would allow us to keep pace with the 'necks.

Remember how in '97 we were more furious than disappointed? We got robbed because of a crybaby All-American receiver. It inspired our team to greater heights since 1990. It set the stage for one of the greatest runs in Georgia Tech history. Yes, we continued to lose to F$U, but they were at the top of the games. But went deep into the fourth quarter with them each year.

Win or lose next Saturday, this team has the players. It has the coaches. It will be playing against a team that had its share of miracle wins this year. Surely that team may have used up its quota of miracles.

GO JACKETS!!

As bad as I hate to say it.. last years loss was not that bad for me... I didnt expect us to win last year.... I felt like the loss to Virginia was the last straw for the team last year, and told my wife the following day that I felt the team had given up on the season... we should have beaten Georgia last year, but you could tell from the first set of series that Tech just wasnt focused... we were badly whipped on the line... it continued in the FSU game (we should have beaten them last year as well)

I agree with jg and belly. Usually, our team comes out against the dawgies real fired up! Last yr. it just wasn't there for them or US!! We were sorta down also by that time.

Hope this yr is different. The D will be fired up, but I do not know if our O is capable mentally.

In my opinion... this BCS thing could be the best thing to happen to Tech this year in terms of Georgia... The media, their fans, and I have to think the players to a degree, are not giving much thought towards the game with Tech... Its being treated as an afterthought... "who has to lose to get Georgia into the Fiesta" ... Georgia players having Michigan/Ohio State parties... I hope our team listens well to this all week... and goes to Athens hellbent to whip their butts... and I dont mean for a half.. whip them for 60 minutes... put 40 points on the scoreboard at Sanford and shut these mutts up

There was something terribly wrong with our team in 2001. You could see it in the Clemson game. The coaches weren't making necessary adjustments during the games. The players weren't making tackles and were choking in the 4th quarter. Different phases broke down in different games.

By the time we played UGA, it almost didn't matter to me. I was not crushed when we lost to them. In 1997, I was crushed, because you could tell we were improving so much late in 1997. Last year, by the UGA game, the team was just playing out the season...and so were the coaches.
